He is very thin and only had sixteen teeth, one of the his captors describes him as "rather like a spider himself, or perhaps like a starved frog." Gollum hates light, and avoids it if possible. He is emaciated and gaunt, but possesses a vicious, wiry strength.
Personality:
He was insane and obsessive, especially with the One Ring (his most prized possession).
Gollum speaks in an idiosyncratic manner, often referring to himself in the third person, and frequently talks to himself — "through having no one else to speak to," as Tolkien put it in The Hobbit. When not referring to himself in the 3rd person, he might speak of himself in the plural as "we", hinting at his split personality. The rare occasions when he actually says "I" are interpreted by Frodo as an indication that Sméagol's better self has the upper hand. Gollum also uses his own versions of words similar to the original words. He usually adds -es to the end of a plural, resulting in words such as "Bagginses" instead of Baggins, or "birdses" instead of birds. When forming the present tense of verbs, he frequently extends the 3rd person singular ending -s to other persons and numbers, resulting in constructions like "we hates it" (by analogy with "he hates it"). In general, Gollum is represented as very fond of sibilants, often drawing them out ("dussst").

History:
Gollum, shortly after birth was quickly abandoned by his parents and spent many years in an orphanage, where he was constantly tormented by other children due to his ugliness and strangely shaped body. He was considered to be mentally inferior due to his extreme shyness and mild learning disabilities during his primary school years, though he was actually quite intelligent. He dropped out at an extremely early age and decided to fend for himself. Based on years of abuse and knowing full well he was a freak, he developed an enmity towards everyone and everything. Eventually he was considered a lost cause and was sent off to Kirigakure's experimental facility which they used to house societal outsiders and prisoners of war.

Gollum was in Kirigakure's experimental facility in a cell with other patients. He was among the weirdest and the worst the village had to offer. He was eventually rescued by members of Sunagakure and in exchanged promised to join their village. It was a lie. He was done with all villages and so while they slept he slit their throats and made off with their belongings. Among their treasures, he found the One Ring. A fabled object which supposedly only existed in legend.

He considers everything prior to his rescue as his past life, swearing to forget the years of trauma which befell him when he was first taken to the facility.

However, he made an oath that before his time ended in the world, he would find some sort of way to make Kirigakure pay for their crimes and to make them feel a hundred fold the pain which was inflicted on him.
Eventually Gollum considered why he was experimented on for all those years, something which came with an enlightening realization. His genes were so deeply sought after because his body was essentially a fighting machine, which granted him with limitless possibilities to become the most feared weapon in the history of Shinobi.

He is able to climb effortlessly straight down cliffs impossible to climb by Sam and Frodo, and can make long leaps. Additionally he can run extremely fast, strangely on all fours. Gollum prefers to eat meat raw, and refuses to eat anything else because it apparently burns him to the touch.
