I had a friend ask me my opinion of Sasuke. I tried to send him my reply via PM but it was too long to send. So I decided to do the next big thing, make a thread. I hope you like my reply friend.

Sasuke....oh the cause of so many flame wars.

I believe he is one of the best shinobi out there in the Narutoverse. He is very skilled in using his sharingan. The likes of which has not been seen since the time of Madara and his brother, Izuna. The best sharingan users of this new generation would be Itachi, Shisui, Sasuke, Tobi, and to some degree, Kakashi.

Anyways, his intentions were to kill Itachi but in order to get to the point worthy of fighting him he had to become Orochimaru's pawn. He knew that it was necessary to fulfill his goal so he went along for the ride and bit his tongue till he found a golden opportunity to overwhelm Oro.

Later, after his battle with Itachi and whilst talking to Tobi, is when he sort of lost his way. Instead of fulfilling Itachi's wishes he went flipside and made an oath of vengeance for the ones responsible for the Uchiha massacre and his brothers sacrifice.

During this time he reminded me so much of Naruto when he saw Sasuke make better progress than him. How so? Well the people he fought allowed him to gauge his strength especially in his battle versus Killer Bee. He showed great improvement to me in his battle versus Danzo. He surprised me there. Sonce then hes been going higher and higher in power but still lost inside.

He is a great character in terms of ability but so far as his role....well lets say that I GREATLY dislike him. He is destroying Itachi's whole dream of restoring the honor of the Uchiha. Not to mention he cannot comprehend the lengths Naruto has gone to maintain the honor of his name. He carelessly uses people as pawns and thinks only of himself.

However, Kishi showed us a ray of hope during his conversation with Naruto under that bridge. If you see the anime you can tell he was surprised at Naruto's persistance and his eventual comment about both of them dying. Somewhere inside is that lil' Sasuke who wants nothing more than a true friend to understand his pain and loss. I hope Naruto makes him pay for all he put him through.

I dont particularly like him and tbh i want him dead but you alwas need someone like that for a good story. Anyway i like your thread you manage to get your point across without just hating on the character which more people should try.

my view on sasuke in one word: EMO
I have one word for you ignorant. Do you even know the meaning of the word emo because if you did then you'd know that Sasuke isn't emo?
Emo in the sense as he is a very emotional person but hides it under a stoic expression?

His hair is reminiscent of the Emo style we know today and something Kishi draws on to connect our world and theirs.

I don't really know what emo is but from my experience it has always been someone who displays pain and sorrow as a theatrical tragedy. Maybe there is more to that than what we know and if so would like your hearsay on it.

Sasuke's actions are understandable, his story is really sad, but interesting. I like him, even though he's filled with hatred, he's big part of Naruto(show), so Kishi has done great job.

I hope that Naruto will be able to sace Sasuke from darkness, in fact I'm sure that he will. Sasuke isn't supposed to be the bad guy, so if he dies as a bad guy, I'll stop reading Naruto.

What is an emo? Anyway Sasuke is a character I really like. He gets a lot of cool jutsus, his fights are always interesting, he's a major part of the story, has an interesting backstory, and he's the main character's rival. Yeah he's become pretty psychotic recently but I actually think he's pretty entertaining as crazy bloodthirsty ninja, sure he's come to an irrational conclusion but what bad guy doesn't? most of the people he's killed were villains so its not like he's committed any atrocities. I hope he is redeemed because it would be a tragedy if we couldn't see team 7 reunited like the good old days.

Note: To those of you who don't follow the manga; the following post may contain spoilers.

@Koto: I appreciate that you took the time to create this thread in response to my question and I completely respect your opinion. Here are my thoughts on his character:

In my honest opinion, I think that Sasuke has led a tragic life but mainly a life of influence starting with Itachi and thus far manipulated by the "masked man". Itachi is a prime example as to what would be a possible outcome for someone influenced positively. Naruto has led a tragic life but the only difference between them is that he was able to choose his own decisions unlike Sasuke who was negatively influenced. Otherwise Naruto may have thought the same horrible things and ended up in Sasuke's shoes as he himself stated. Gaara was in a similar path possessing corruption and an unstable mentality but was able to change because of Naruto. I think it is taking Sasuke longer perhaps having lost everyone he cared about unlike Gaara who still has family. To truly understand Sasuke's character is to have everyone you ever cared about die. No one can really say for a fact that if they ever even lost one person they cared about it a brutal murder would they be insanity/vengeful free. I also think that he should be pardoned as Gaara/Suna (Gaara unstable mentality & killed/his village who were cahoots w/Orochimaru) & Konan (who killed many & helped the masked man with the Tsuki no Me Keikaku). Onoki's statement towards Naruto about uniting all of the villages as one in hopes that the birth of hatred be changed. He even went onto blaming and comparing himself and the villages to being like Madara giving birth to hatred and how they should take responsibility. Thus I think Sasuke's salvation is even more possible.

Great thread.. Sasuke fits the bill perfectly for Naruto.. The ultimate rival, the gary to ash, the red to blue.. It's perfect.. The way kishi portrayed sasuke can't be any better.
