When you do a gradient map merge all visible first and then selecting duplicate layer. Then set your gradients via the foreground and background colors or when you go to image->gradient map. in the pop up you can select the gradient from your other gradients or using the foreground and background colors. Once done set that layer to either softlight or overlay. That way it doesn't mess up you sig.
