Christianity and Islam condemn "sinners" to an eternity of torture though right? Last time I checked that's the opposite of "peace" and "love."

Yeah sure like they dnt get beheaded, stoned or get glassed on streets may be except Indonesia.

And Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Albania, Kosovo..?

OT: It is religion , it is not about peace or fight specially it is about faith, purpose and forming a lifestyle round them. For example i can set myself the goal of earning more money which is not inherently moral or immoral. But i can choose moral or immoral ways to earn money similar to how people practice religion in different ways.

In the wake of the paris attacks and everyone feeling scared my muslim friends assured me islam is a religion of peace and harmony is this really true? I ask because most religious extremist look to be associated in some manner or form with islam.

Yes, that's 100% true. Islam is a religion of peace and harmony.

ISIS is not even distantly related to Islam. It's a pure drama, a propaganda against Muslims which actually does more damage to Muslims than people from any other religion, while simultaneously degrading the name of Islam and Muslims.

If Islam was a religion of war, hatred and terrorism, the entire world would be finished. People following Islam heavily outnumber all other religions. The truth is Muslims are just like everybody else. They're completely normal people who spend normal lives just like Christians, Jews, Hindus etc.

And the fact is that terrorists belong to all religions. So Islam shouldn't be the sole one blamable especially when ISIS is not Islam.

Death penalty for apostasy doesn't seem very peaceful to me.

"Those who disbelieve will be forced to drink boiling water, and will face a painful doom. (Quran 6:70" <--- Not peaceful as well.

"Good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah has guarded. As for those from whom you fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. (Quran 4:34)" <--- Same here

I am not sure about the rules of the first thing you mentioned but, the other 2 you got them wrong.

The boiling water punishment is supposed to be given in hell not in this life. To the disbelievers of course.

And second a husband is not allowed to beat his wife in Islam the most severe punishment he can give is to hit her with grass or as tiny stick such as toothpick.

Those people who say bad things about Islam are wrong. Good and bad people exist everywhere.

We aren't perfect but are religion is.

Yes, that's 100% true. Islam is a religion of peace and harmony.

Do you think that death penalty for apostasy is peaceful? Or having the right to harm your wife if she disobeys? How about killing non believers? Do you that is an act of peace?

I honestly have the feeling that people confuse the Islam and what actually stands in the Quran (just read or google it) with muslims, who aren't fundamentalists and who they know in real life.

Saying that not everyone is like that is true and good but saying that the Quran and Islam are all about peace is disrespectful to all the people who lost their lifes because of it.

Like I said that is their interpretation, to them they are practicing their faith.

But to say they are extremists which suggest they are more thorough in practicing the faith then others is wrong because there are different interpretations, there is no way one can say that ISIS who don't even number in the millions have a better interpretation of a faith than the remaining 1.6 billion practitioners .

ISIS believes that is how the faith is some other believe different using the term extremist to refer to ISIS is wrong.

That's not what extremist means, extremist doesn't suggest they practice their religion more. Extremist is used to describe anyone who takes their ideals to the furthest end of the spectrum.

Everyone generally wants peace in the end, but the question is are the means to achieve it justifiable. Is peace through oppression truly peace? Same of the Crusades before ignorant people try to label this as bashing.

Just googled it and you are allowed to do much more according to the Quran than that.

Kindly don't Google it and read the Holy Qur'an. There is lot of fake stuff on Google.

I actually did once and am sure that you are allowed to cause way more harm than you described. I also don't believe that almost everything about Islam and the translations of the Quran on the internet are fake or made up :lmao:

The questions you asked are a result of a series of misconceptions, misinterpretations and lack of knowledge about Islam and Quran. None of what you said is actually the case.

Islam never allowed men to beat wives. Where did you get this false BS? And you told like one misconceived fact without proof and completely ignored the enormous amounts of statements that demand of men to treat their wives with care, and never raise a hand on a woman in general, talk about women and wives rights, have an entire chapter dedicated to women and relationships with her i.e. your wife. Do you care about reading all of that?

And killing non-believers? Firstly, I want to know where the hell you're getting all this stuff? Where is the proof? It's pretty obvious that you're misconceiving and misinterpreting though. Quran only said at one point to "fight" non-believers as a line of defense instead of being a coward and let them harm your country and people. And do you want me to show the countless verses that shows the kindness and justice you're supposed to do with non-believers? Ignorance much?

Misinterpretation and ignorance at its finest BTW. You people don't give the slightest bit of attention to the context, that's why your views are so fallacious.

Stopped reading. I read several translations of the Quran, have talked with several people who are Ex-muslims and did more than enough research. You are in absolute denial.

Give the translation if you want to continue this debate further. I'm more than okay to proceed.

Translations are not made up. But your interpretation is. And your lack of knowledge about the context also factors in here.

Use google, educate yourself, ask ex-muslims why they don't want to be part of the religion anymore. Or buy the Quran, read it and think about some verses that seem very anti-peaceful-

"Have talked to several ex-muslims"

That right there does not count as evidence. Talking with individuals who left their religion, will make up non true facts towards islam

I believe in what I read and hear. No, you're not and I don't remember implying that.

I never said you are implying anything. Anyway bye.

Why not try talking to people who converted into Islam?

I'm no religious scholar or expert, but I'm more than enough educated to know about what's right and what's wrong, and what something implies. Google is not the only source of education, please. And it isn't the most reliable of the bunch either. I've educated myself from more reliable sources.

And I won't even bother about asking ex-Muslims. Already done this, and their response is the same revolving around misinterpretation and lack of understanding like you. Plus, I can refer you to the exes of all religions or even ex-atheists if you want. So are you going to comply with what they say?

Plus, why don't YOU talk to people who converted to Islam, who are mostly women (to your surprise). And the conversion rate to Islam is the highest in the world, and it's growing rapidly here in USA and all around the world. That shows that Islam is a religion of hate and violence, right? Most of the conversions are women, and yet Islam tortures women, right? Why don't you consider talking to those women that what they found in Islam that they're converting in such huge numbers? Or they just want to get tortured? :lol

And you already don't know the context of many things stated in the Quran. And even then, translations are not enough to understand the Quran. That's why several scholars have written down the explanation of the verses (Tafseer) for true and actual understanding. That's more important. Even Muslims who have a lot of knowledge about context and implication can't fully understand the Quran without reliable explanation. Plus, the Quran doesn't even have the full details. For that you've to refer to "Hadith".

You'll only find an anti-peaceful verse in Quran if you don't understand it or you're deliberately trying to find errors there. And dude, I'm Muslim, so I don't need to buy the Quran. Already have it.

I did so some days ago in school and asked them what they think of all the verses, that clearly are neither about love, nor peace. They said that they actually don't follow those verses, because they think that they are both stupid and it would put them in jail. They aren't fundamentalists, they don't follow every teaching of the Quran. Which is imo very, very good. There are also a lot of people (like 90% of muslims) who have actually never read the Quran themselves. That's also a big problem.

Stop making stories please. I am sure it's your first time talking to Muslims. You have a mindset according to which Muslims are very bad and Islam is not peaceful.
