Yeah Minato knows who Orochimaru is because Orochimaru was expecting to become the Fourth Hokage since he was excellent and a fine shinobi and most of all he was the favorite student of Hiruzen, the third hokage. He knew Hiruzen will vote for him for the Hokage's seat. But soon Hiruzen came to know about Orochimaru's deadly experiments and urge to learn the forbidden jutsus and hence he chose Minato Namikaze the next Hokage and he was proud of his decision. Orochimaru wanted to become the hokage so that he can experiment on the living humans and there will be no one to stop or question him for his doing.
