here is a perfect f*cking example and yes i do support gamestop
a used copy of fallout 3 on ps3 how much does ebay and amazon sellers sell it for? Thats right on average its $10. how much does used copy of fallout 3 cost in gamestop stores? That right only 5 bucks. But when it comes what online retailers sells it for cheaper.which online store is better ebay or amazon? i have to go with amazon simply because most of their games are sold by larger corporation compared to ebay where its almost the individual seller who controls the price. ohh i bought this game in 2008 therefore to get my money back im going to put a starting price of 10 dollar bid on it without even researching the actual worth of the game.
But the point remains is buying old used games from online sellers is cheaper than buying them from the store? Do online retailers sell their games for less than that you would normaly pay for them at the store? is the price gap big enough to compensate for shipping fees and still save money as if you were to buy it in store?
usually this has to do with games that have been cut down from their production, or no longer are produced by the publishers.
example of games that no longer are produced
The first game is skate 3 that came out in 2010 since the hault of its production the price haulted as well and its trending at around $18.99 at the gamestop on amazon the used copy costs almost $21 not including shipping costs.
The second game is called Valkyria Chronicles which came out in 2008 and in gamestop a used copy costs $25 dollars while on Amazon it goes for around 10dollars +3 dollar shipping which is 13 dollars you do save 12 dollars buying it on amazon
The third game is you all know of it
ITS DRAGON BALL BUDOKAI TENKAICHI 3!!!! which sadly no longer sells in gamestop for ps2 but they do have a wii version which costs like 50 bucks on the other hand amazon sells the used wii version copy for only 30 bucks and plus 3 dollar shipping which it makes it $33.
This proves that gamestop does take in the factor if whenever the game is mass producted before looking judging it by how old it is. because any game can be old but if there arent many copies of it distributed its going to fall into a price block category where you wont be able to get it any cheaper. although by the looks of it amazon still sells it for much cheaper than in average brick and mortal store.
The games that tend to be cheaper in brick in mortal stores are actually the ones that were mass productioned.
for example games like
GTA4
uncharted series i bought whole collection of uncharted 1,2 and 3 for only 10 bucks on gamestop Lol
you wont be able to buy all 3 of these games for 10 dollars anywhere online because they usually got for around 5 dollars each ;P
Fable 2
last time i checked gamestop the used copy of it was like 2-3 bucks compared to amazon which sells it for minumum $5+$3 for shipping
Battlefield Bad company 2
gamestop sells it for $1.99. amazon sells it for 1 penny
plus $2.99 shipping which makes it cheaper to buy it in gamestop still
my conclusion
If the game was very popular mass productioned. it will be cheaper to buy it in brick and mortar store.
If the game didnt receive alot of attention many copies werent sold. or if the game haulted its production then your going to find it usually more cheaper to buy it from online store and i recommend amazon but always check in with ebay cause sometimes you can find some sick deals but always check the shipping first cause the game might be worth buying from the store if the shipping is like 10 bucks.
note
also if you have spare cash right now i definetly recommend getting yourself a copy of dragon ball raging blast 3 oops i mean budokai tenkaichi 3 for wii its only 30 bucks on amazon and its super fun. also i recommend getting a combo back with valkyria chronicles aswell if you have ps3 cause its only 15 bucks and its very addicting game aswell. happy shopping
