My best friend tried to kill himself

So I've been in the university today and noticed that he is missing. This was the very first time since we both started to study and he didn't contact me one the morning as usual either :eww:

After the todays lessons I got a call from his girlfriend,
She cried a lot and spoke unclearly but the words were understandable. "He jumped infront of a train". He survived but lost one arm and has amnesia, heck he asked why he is missing an arm and the police lacks the reason for his suicide move.

What I want to ask is.. Is it right to tell him the truth, saying he lost one arm by commiting suicide (even tho he survived). I mean whatever the reason was, he doesn't know it anymore so telling him that he tried to kill himself and that causing amnesia and -1 arm is kinda wrong in my eyes :|

Note: He is my best friend that is also why I am so angry that he never thought about talking with me about whatever caused this shit situation U_U

I actually think about killing myself all the time, but I realize this World needs me so I want to live but how the systems in it makes me want to die so my advice to you is too help your friend fine a new drive for living

if some1 it should be his family to tell him. just be a good friend to him. i think its the best that way. maybe once he has recovered a bit, you guys can approche him in that ay then. also people who do this kind of stuff usually have stuff like a diary etc. so his family should look and search his room, to find some stuff.... if there really isnt any evidence, it could also be he fell/was pushed on front of the train...

Today in the early morning, I was with him in the hospital but they asked me to go home since it was late :| And yeah I'll probably tell him the truth before he finds it out himself

Yes this time of year is highest rate of suicide. All i can say is stay with him, show him that you understand, show him that you are there for him, show him that you care, show him that someone cares for him, not just for help but cares for him as a person regardless of what he has done or hasn't done, listen to him and don't judge, don't tell him what you would have done or how you would have handled it, don't tell him he is over reacting, or that it (whatever it is) isn't a problem, be active in his life, be concerned, be there for him.

Dont be angry with him, do you think its easy to tell your emotions, especially as a man, its much much harder to tell people how you feel, especially when your not even sure how you feel, you know your down, and you feel like the world is crashing, you feel like no matter what you do it doesn't get better, like nothing changes and everyone else is moving forward, you don't feel like you have accomplished anything, you don't feel like you matter, you feel like it would be better for everyone if you just weren't alive, you feel like nothing, you wish that you could just disappear, and you feel like that "that" is the way to stop the pain, to stop the hurt, to stop the feelings.

Trust me, I know what your friends going through, and what i told you to do is what i wanted someone to do for me, and what someone did do for me to help pull me through.

Let him know that it will get better.

(P.S. i didnt lose an arm but was standing on the edge and all i need was a push to send me over or a pull to bring me back)

I agree with this. Let his family/parents bring him back to reality. You just need to be a good, supporting friend that's there for him.

Also, if he's still suicidal, show him the first episode of Yu Yu Hakusho. The main character (my avatar) dies and is given the chance to be alive again. However, he feels as if he wouldn't be missed. He got to see how wrong he was. It's a really good reality check.

Sorry to hear that man. But you have to be strong for him and tell him the truth. He needs to know. Him losing an arm was because of his decision to commit suicide and this was the consequence. He needs to understand that. Stay positive with him and tell him that everything that happened is in the past now and he has a fresh new start now. Tell him to take advantage of it. He has to come around himself but make for damn sure that you're not MIA when he needs you. I hope everything works out for you and him.
