The reason why the sharingan cannot see through the mist is because it is chakra enhanced. Basically all chakra everywhere!

Ex: Heat/night vision allows you to see body temperatures. But if the person your seeing is in front of a burning forest (fire) they only see the Heat (fire) and not the person because not the signatures are mixed and it cannot be differed with night/heat vision.

Plus the clam Genjutsu its something you can see through, its an infinite genjutsu that never goes off untill the clam/user leaves/die. Thats like trying to break a wall behind a wall behind a wall behind a wall behind a wall etc etc etc.

And no physical attack can harm the mizukage, so technically madara cannot kill him with the feats displayed.
