Note: This thread is about MS/Akatsuki Sasuke's moral stance at the time, NOT about whether he was STRONG ENOUGH to take on the leaf, or how BADLY he wanted* to CRUSH KONAHA because he was emotional. This is not a Sasuke vs. Hidden Leaf thread.
Back when Sasuke was evil, he agreed to destroy the hidden leaf but do you think that he would have the mental sternness to destroy a whole village? I mean slaughtering an entire clan (let alone an entire village) isn't something you just do and feel nothing afterwards. Even Itachi of all people felt pretty crappy about the Uchiha massacre (he was just good at holding his feelings in and pretending to be a douche).
And yeah I know that Sasuke is one of the darker and edgier characters in this series but come on now, he like 16. He's not a complete monster. Think about what the destruction of the leaf implies: Killing innocent children, babies, pregnant women and of course parents who are trying to protect their children.
Sasuke was a kid when the Uchiha massacre happened so he know that kind of terror better than anyone. Is he really going to slice through some random leaf kid, crush their mother with susanno and burn babies alive with amaterasu just so everyone can "feel his despair"?
Doesn't seem likely. And let's say he did go through with it, it would have made him far worse than Danzo. Danzo might have been a crappy Leaf elder but at least he didn't slaughter people because he was having a nervous breakdown.
My guess is that Kishi probably added the whole "I'm going to crush Konoha" thing to add tension to the manga.
Here's the TLDR version:
1. Regardless of how emotional he was at time...Did MS Sasuke (a 16-17 year old kid) really have the mental strength to handle the bloodshed and atrocities associated with his "destruction of the leaf plan"?
2. If he did go through with it...what would he do once he comes to his senses and realises the horror of what he has become?
