Is it really as bad and fast as sasukes using of it made it out to be in such a small time frame?

No because Itachi had the mangekyo sharingan from the age of 13-21 just fine for 9 years. As long as you stay within your physical limit, it shouldn't hasten the process.

Izuna and Madara were in constant war, so for them to not go so blind easily they had to use their mangekyo sparingly.

Unless you're talking about him making the mangekyo look worthless than it already is?

Sasuke's problem was an overuse of Susano'o. His over extensive time using the Susano'o degraded his sight along with the Amaterasu. He used the Susano'o more than Itachi did.

Itachi did just fine with his Mangekyo meaning he rarely used it.

unlocking MS is like having a certain amount of cash in the Bank

while Itachi barely used it and Susanoo after getting it, Sasuke literally blew out the bank by marathoning his way to the Kage summit and pointlessly using it and Susanoo on random Samurai, let alone Danzou, Bee, the Raikage, etc...

Nah you understood correctly, that's pretty much what I mean though, in a war time scenario it just doesn't seem as op as you would think. Sasukes the perfect example because we see it all at once pretty much and it really doesn't take a lot before it happens

Sasuke unlike Itachi and Kakashi, spammed his MS jutsus like he didn't have any other jutsus in his arsenal.

He used it against Bee twice. Used it against a random Cloud Ninja on the way to the Kage summit, for no reason. Spammed it Ay (also Cee), Gaara-Kankuro-Temari, Mei, Danzo and Kakashi; all in one day. He fought kage level ninja at and above his level and only managed to kill Danzo. SMH

Oh! okay. Yeah it didn't seem op because madara and maybe izuna lacked a mangekyo ability, all madara had was susanoo while someone like sasuke showed the effectiveness of what susanoo and amatersu combined can do to a person. Amatersu, Kamui, and KA has done a lot of damage to kage class level opponents more than susanoo did at times.

And then there's Izuna who played smart to preserve his eyes from deterioration ended up costing his life because he did not use his mangekyo sharingan prior to death a few seconds before.

But even then he didn't suffer the consequences as badly as the rest because it took him to spam Susanoo for the eyesight to go bad.

Had he been conservative with his use of MS like Itachi his eyesight would've lasted his entire life. His body would've been stronger as he got older and should've been less susceptible to blindness.

I agree with you up until the end of the last paragraph, I don't think your body and overall stamina have an effect on how quick you go blind, it's just how often and what level tech you use I.e I'd assume over using susanoo would blind you a lot quicker than just using ama over and over. The more I thought about it the, better a balance it seemed to the overall "op" ness of the ms. Like yea you get power that's hardly rivaled but you can't overuse it all that much in reality. Also I don't think sasukes "chakra potency" is as much of a factor either, or at least unproven as the only other ms user that would be comparable in that regard is mads, and it just states he started to go blind I don't think it gives us an idea of a time frame(unless it did and I don't remember)

Depends on its usage frequency I guess and thus varies from one user to the other.
