My argument is proficiency. He had far more proficiency over Genjutsu than Amaterasu. For Sasuke, it was the other way around.

That's true, but that still feels awkward. Like okay Itachi is a Genjutsu master, but why did he need Amaterasu at all then? Sasuke was bad at Genjutsu, but he never had Tsukiyomi. Wouldn't it make much more sense if it worked both ways?

It's like Itachi gets a free pass but Sasuke got left hanging.

Sasuke was never bad at Genjutsu, though. His 3T Genjutsu feats far outclass Itachi's. His MS Genjutsu is just as potent. The only difference is that its duration is short. Itachi can control that duration.

In my opinion, it evens out at the end: Sasuke has an MS Genjutsu, but it doesn't grant him control; Itachi has Amaterasu, but it doesn't grant him control. Both of them don't have any control over one thing.

I tot you need the power of Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi to have Susanoo though, being the third power and all. That was before Susanoo became every Uchiha's possession and I was like yeah, whatever suits you Uchiha. I guess as long as an Uchiha survives that long, he'll have susanoo.
