Alrighty my apologies for being late, was occupied by other affairs. Everything you need to know about training and everything, in regards to me not responding for a little while, is on my profile. I'm sorry if it's dark and hard to read, I can't figure out how to change the font color ~_~ Anywho, I'll have this thread subscribed so no need to remind me every time after you post. Now lets begin.
_________________________

I want you to begin by doing the following.

  • What is Earth Release
  • How Does this nature act
  • Relationships with other Elements (Standard and Advanced Elements)

Hint: What I'm asking for for the second bullet, I'm asking for you to use what you know of earth and personify it. Use adj. to tell me your best interpritation of how this nature "acts" And for relationships with the other elements. I want more than the shallow relations of strengths, weaknesses and neutrality. I want you to tell me all of the former as well as how earth can be used in conjunction with other elements, and not just the five elements, but other advanced elements as well. For help refer to

Well to start, Earth Release, involves kneading one's one chakra into pre-exisiting earth in order to manipulate it, or using one's chakra to create their own earth. Earth is a flexible element as it can be used for defense, or offense. It also comes in many different forms unlike the other elements, as it can be hard and rigid such as with an Earth Style wall, or fluid and thick when used as mud.
While only useable by a jinchuriki of Shukaku, the 1 tailed beast, sand manipulation can also fall into the category of a type of earth release, albeit not a standard earth release technique.

Earth release is naturally weak to lightning release as the earth acts as a natural conductor which channels the lightning and breaks apart the earth. Earth is naturally strong against water release techniques as it can block large forces of water easily and can even absorb some of the water in the form of mud.

Earth release takes part of various elemental nature releases and kekkei genkai such as Lava release, explosion release, wood release and Dust release which itself contains 3 elements in what is known as a kekkei tota.

Hmm, this isn't enough. You need to be more detailed.

To first address what you've already said I will respond with this: Don't misconstrude the use of Sand as a sub division of Earth release. Though similar in some aspects the two, especially in this RP are different entities all together. Where Water is weak against Earth Release, it is strong against Sand as it breaks down the structure. Also sand itself is composed of many minerals and is more refined. It's important not too try to link the two together so much in order to avoid misconceptions and theoretical assumptions that may end up going wrong if you tried to apply the knowledge in battle. As well, Sandaime and Yondaime Kazekage had some form of Sand manipulation. However through their mediums of their magnitism release kekkei genkai, they manipulated Sand just as the Shukaku could.

Now what I need to see more from you is a little more detail explaining what you've already said for the most part. I also asked for you to give me the relationships between Earth and other elements both advanced and basic. You only connected the element to Lightning and Water and then you gave a shallow statement about how earth is used to create the advanced elements you described.

You also did not give me any properties/personified characteristics of earth rather you told how earth release is used. It is common knowledge that you use chakra to manipulate/create earth but in this training we're developing your understanding of the earth's properties which will help you in various ways such as: knowing how to effectively counter/fight against earth based techniques, create customs, use earth in more creative ways beyond one scope, etc.

If you have any questions, or are unclear about what I'm asking of you, please tell me and I'll help you, that's what I'm here for ^^. If not, and you think you have a grasp on what I'm asking you, you can go on ahead and try this again.

Well, earth is naturally sturdy and rigid. As it is one of the most sturdy elements out there, it is usually used as a great form of defense in most cases. Earth is also powerful and versatile, being able to do both concussive, or piercing damage depending on the infused characteristics given to it (where a large pillar can cause massive internal damage, and an earth spike can cause great piercing damage.)

As for earth and other elements,

Earth is naturally weak to lightning, as lightning release has the ability to enter the earth and break it down to its basic components, making it crumble and degrade which is never good for it. However, when combined with lightning, earth could also be used to increase the range, or characteristics of a lightning attack. Lightning when used to attack through earth can add a form of dust or mineral damage that can reduce the field of vision somewhat, or cause annoyance on the opponent's part.

Earth and water have a unique relationship. While earth is strong against water for being able to completely block or even absorb the water, earth and water combined have an advantage in battle. Earth can be used to create a finite space in which a water attack can move, as well as creating walls in which water may be directed in certain ways. Water and earth can also create mud, (although in the manga and anime it is shown that mud is also considered simply earth release without being combined with water.)

Earth and fire are both powerful elements but are nearly opposite in nature. Earth causes mostly internal bludgeoning damage, while fire almost always caused outward surface damage. While earth can block fire about as well as it can block other elements, when used with or against fire, the fire can heat the earth release to great temperatures, either fracturing it, or melting it depending on the level and heat of the fire. Theoretically, when using earth and fire in conjunction, the earth could be heated using a large scale fire release technique which could add bonus burning and searing damage to the earth, while also partially giving the earth fluidity. Incidentally, Earth is a major component in the KKG, Lava release. As lava is 50% fire and 50% earth, earth is a huge factor in its creation, whereas earth is the base, and fire gives it the heat and movement necessary to create lava.

Earth and wind are near polar opposites. While earth does internal damage through bludgeoning, wind is greatly used for its cutting properties. And while earth is mainly used for defense and less often for offense, wind is mostly used for offense, and less so for defense. Lastly earth is almost always performed by using existing earth, while wind almost always is created by the user. Earth could possibly be used to create a smaller area in which the wind technique could be used, which would increase the power, as the wind would be more focused on one area.

Earth is also a component of the Kekei Tota, Dust release, along side wind and fire. When looking at the elements combined to create this technique, i would guess that the Wind element is used to create great speed, while Fire Release in incorporated in the heating of anyone or anything caught in its range, and the Earth aspect creates large amounts of "debris" which are thrown about by the wind and heated with the fire, allowing dust release to essentially bludgeon the target into microscopic dust, effectively destroying it.

That's better. A few notes I'll add to give you.

Earth is arguably the most versitile of the five basic elements. It is polar opposite with water and if you look at the factors from both elements you can somewhat understand why. Water is a yeilding element, it will flow around or take an alternative route as opposed to staying firm and forcing its way through. It's a heavily passive element, while Earth is, as you said, rigid. Earth is a non-yeilding element, it is very firm set and cannot be moved. This shows how in a battle of opposites (the concepts of Yin and Yang can work here) that those two elements are naturally opposite each other. There are acceptions to this rule when we take into account variables. Each of the elements and their opposites have such a relation. Why Earth is the most versitile of the elements? It's because you can shape it into almost anything as well as change certian factors of it like density, structure, alternative forms, etc. Also, since it's a solid, it makes a great offense and defense. Blunt, sharp, dense, strong, firm. I feel you have a pretty good understanding of the relationships. That thread I linked you way back in the beginning of our trainig, you can check to see the relationships between advanced elements besides the ones that Earth itself helps create.

Now before we continue do you have any questions?

I don't believe so. That link you posted is a really good source for any basic questions i might have regarding elemental and chakra based attacks. So far i'm understanding pretty well. :)

Alright, now the way I train is a little differently than most sensei. I use Lili-Chwan and Scorp's method of training which divides the techniques of an element into four categories. Each category will have a specific number of techniques based on the similarities between the techniques, regardless of rank. I will then teach you the basic concepts of the method and test you on your knowledge and then we will continue alright?
____________________________
Method 1: Own Created
Method 2: Environment Manipulation
Method 3: Advanced Conversion
Method 4: Others

These are the four methods in this element. From this point on here is what we're going to be doing.

(1) I will give you the method and explain to you, in depth, what the method entails and then allow for any questions of clarrification

(2) I will give you bullet points of words/phrases that I will ask you to define/explain that will show me if you understand this method if I am satisfied with your explanations, we will continue. If not I will have you tweak them.

(3) I will then post all the jutsu within the category with full explinations and then you will have to do the following
~Explain the Advantages of the Method
~Explain the Disadvantages of the Method
~Discuss Strategies you could use with jutsu from this method
If I'm satisfied with these three aspects, we will continue and repeat the cycle from the top.

Any questions?

Method 1: Own Created

Alrighty the first method we'll be discussing is 'Own Created'. The most basic way I can explain this would be earth techniques that you produce from your body. The only thing that is used is your doton chakra to create earth from your body directly as opposed to manipulating existing earth. Now earth is a very versitile element meaning there will be several differing ways to manipulate and utilize the earth techniques. Even the techniques within the same method family are unique in many ways, the exceptions being-in this case-that all of these technqiues are self created. In order to better explain how the chakra usage would be for techniques of this method I would have to explain a few concepts first.

(1) Full Body Chakra Release techniques: This is essentially where you release chakra from every chakra point in your body to create a full body affect. Generally armor based techniques or techniques that completely coat your body for protective measures or other physical enhancement purposes are techniques that utilize this. A quick tangent onto the subject of genjutsu. I won't expand further on it as it would get too deep especially due to my genjutsu addiction. Full body release methods are one of the methods used to release genjutsu. Reason is, the surge of chakra from every pore in your body is releasing chakra, which would force out the foreign chakra in your brain that causes the genjutsu. However it is essential you pay attention to rank, because the level of genjutsu you can release is dependant on the rank of technique (example: B-ranked full body chakra release techniques of elements release C-rank and below A-rank releases B-rank and below. You need 1 rank higher than the genjutsu you're trying to disolve)

(2) Isolated Area Chakra Release: To put it simply, same concept as th full body only this time you're isolating the area and releasing chakra in a specific area instead of every part of your body.

(3) Projectiles: Techniques where you create a small projectile based object (an object that is launched) with a source from one part of the body and then launch it at your opponents. Generally exhaled or spat from the mouth.

Now that in mind, when you're doing techniques in this method, you take note to this. You're channeling your Doton chakra for whatever specific entity the technique entails and then the doton chakra manifests physically into the earth substance you're trying to create.

This is my first time teaching Earth so I'm not 100% how to explain it yet, any questions or things you're unclear of?
