I have surfed the internet in search of a movie making software, but since I have not found anything, I decided to ask the beautiful people of NB to help me out

So...

I have a huge project about creating a movie on advertising my client's poultry production business, and need to use a software that can help me with transitions, sound effects, editting, etc.
Please suggest any products/softwares that I can use and if so, where i can download them for FREEE

You can download ANYTHING for free, however you know the rest haha.

suggestions
Sony Vegas
Adobe Priemere
Final cut (series don't know the current version) -- Mac users.

They are all good. I've used all three and found that Final Cut is probably the easiest to use and more user friendly.

Vegas/priemere is more extensive, got to learn how to work within the program

Out of all the three I'll choose vegas.

What Nine said.

Sony Vegas, is hard to use to begin with, but once you know what you are doing, it's just becomes a ease.

Also btw, standard transitions are kinda boring that comes pre-loaded with those. Most likely if you want something "cool" looking i'd recommend getting used to After Effects. Thats where you can do a lot of stuff (basically special effects). Also if you want to add text or what not use photoshop(i don't know if GIMP works either).

Mostly if your working from scratch and got "live action" going on you want to edit with vegas/premier/final cut, but to add effects you would want to use after effects.

I heard movie maker(windows) you can do some editing and some transitions are also pre-loaded in that.

Well if you want good and legal I suggest you try something like Kdenlive or Openshot, both are free. Those are only on Linux though but they have a live dvds and vbox images on their website. Sony Vegas is probably the best Windows one though. Well those are the ones I have used. Some of the other stuff posted on this thread are also great but not free.

Just use Windows Movie Maker that comes with your operating system man!

lol Nah I'm joking movie maker is horrible, I haven't used Sony Vegas, but there are some really good tutorials for Adobe Priemere on their site to help you how to use it.

Windows Movie maker comes free with OS. Should do for basic editing. But it sucks. Sony Vegas is good. Check this . Some of the softwares are free to try for 15-30 days. For one time use this will do. But if you are going to use it regularly then buy it.

I've only used Adobe Priemere, but everyone is suggesting Sony Vegas, I think I'm going to check it out, it seems like it's better.

I've learned to use Adobe Premiere, but it's only on my school computer. I recently purchased a $52 program at Best Buy called "MAGIX Movie Edit Pro MX". It is a program that is EXTREMELY identical to Adobe Premiere. It's not a bad program, and I reccomend you check it out ;)

I downloaded Sony Vegas and started using it, it doesn't seem that much better than Adobe Premiere. I obviously have a lot to still discover about it, I started making a Death Note trailer, I might post it up when it's done.

Vegas however was very user friendly, took me about 5mins to figure out how to cut clips, mix with music and add effects.

just for additional help. If you are doing this for a college work, they have free software you can get from them. It's educational purposes and students are allowed to have a copy. This is how I got All of adobe software and sony vegas. I didn't get final cut pro because it was mac only =/
