Just finished MTLR (second season of To LOVE-Ru), and I can actually say I enjoyed it more than the first. Not by a huge margin, but it did a pretty good job carrying on the series.
Second season focused a lot more on some of the side characters. I was really happy to see more development for people like Yui, Yami, Mikan, etc. Lala and Haruna got most of the spotlight in first season, and awesome as they were, I did want the others to get more screen time so second season did a good job with that.
Storytelling method changed too, a lot of shorter stories instead of a one per episode deal like first season. Made it feel even more episodic but at least this way the parts never felt draggy and it actually made development easier in some ways. Only exception was the last episode for obvious reasons. You just can't break up the conclusion of the season.
I liked the graphics of second season more. Everything was shinier and overall it just felt a lot smoother than first season's art. Not that first season's was bad, but it felt a lot more simple by comparison.
Rito's situations always make me lol though. He's a good character and all, but every time he tries to confess........oh man. This guy just never gets it to work. Something always has to go wrong.
I'm hoping that Darkness ends up being even better. Apparently there's more fanservice though. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but as long as it keeps on doing what it is already then I'll probably enjoy it all the same.
