Had the same thought when I read the title. Even though its a basic jutsu I still have no idea how it works. its either:
-the user takes a log and transforms it into himself, and remains hidden till the decoy gets killed
or
-the user quickly grabs something RIGHT BEFORE THEY GET HIT and puts it in their place.
