Yeah I mean Gaara went from this:

to the leading commander of the 5 great nations...I mean seriously he was a monster.

Lmao I fail for forgetting him

Sasuke only has a heart for Itachi, so I don't count that

I would've never guessed Itachi was good until the Tobi/Sasuke convo

lol I wrote so many stories with that kind of plot, I just felt it coming xD or perhaps I just wished it

If you mean from an analytical POV, I'd say Itachi as if you go and rewatch all of the Itachi moments, he was meant to be a bad guy, but Kishimoto probably redid his role in Part II.

If mean from me as a viewer, likely Nagato. His back story was revealed right at the end, so I thought he was just a guy who was a raging lunatic, but he had a sob story at the end. Gaara, on the other hand, was much less surprising, his sob story was always present, Naruto being the same type of person was bound to have some type of effect on him.

Wow man, perfect explanation. But I still say Gaara. Even if you expected he was good, you never expected for him to be the Kazekage and commander of the ASF

HA! The day he ends up being good is the day hell freezes or the fat lady sings. Tobi, Zetsu, Kisame, Deidara, Hidan, and Kakuzu will never even have 1% good in them. Though, Tobi's Moon Eye Plan has a decent purpose, it's still messed up

Kisame had good in him, he was loyal to the Akatsuki till the end and he did everything for the village up until he left it. In the end, he suffered a brutal death just so Tobi could make a world "with no lies".

This he gave it all for his village, he just fell under the influence of Tobi

Why aren't you a fan of bad guys? Itachi turning good did not surprise me because I spoiled it for myself. Nagato turning good so suddenly was a huge shocker. I also feel proud for Gaara. He was a raging monster and suddenly he had a change in heart. Two months later we see him he and his siblings helping Konoha while just two months previously they were going to destroy it!!!
