Most Powerful Volcanic Eruption of the 20th Century

The volcanic eruption which occured around the Katmai National Monument in Alaska, Canada caused a devastating impact on the area and inhabitants around it. The eruption caused a huge hole at the top of the mountain. Although scientists and geologists thought that Katmai Caldera was the source of the blast, it was later revealed like after 40 years that Novarupta was the original source. Novarupta which means 'new volcano' was created in 1912.

Was anyone affected by this volcanic eruption? Nobody knows until now why the volcano eruption occurred?

OT: Seriously, what do you think caused this volcanic eruption. There had to have been an interesting cause for it to become the most powerful volcanic eruption of the 20th century, and I'd thought St Helens was on top of the list.

Probably some kind of underground seismic activity. Maybe a flammable gas leaked into wherever the lava was and triggered an explosion.

Sorry let me rephrase, do you know of someone that may have been affected by it. I don't know, family members, friends or acquaintences? I can't say much about it, but what I'd really like to know is what caused this?

Since no one has come up with better explanation I'd return back to Akainu :shrug: it would make much sense if that's the place where he fought Aijoki.
