What would you guys list of the most meaningful deaths in the series be? As in, which deaths truly stirred up emotions for you? Which do you consider shocking, and did they really help to further develop some of the characters?

As for me
1. Zabuza - this death was great at the time, and was what really got me into the series as a kid. I remember reading the manga, and seeing someone who had been portrayed as a total monster up unto that point, turning out to be someone who although flawed, was still a human being. Not to mention the impact it had on Naruto, this is what made him strive to be the ninja he turned out to be.

2. Itachi - I loved this, he played the villain from his teenage years on, all so his little brother could take revenge upon him for destroying his clan. His life was the definition of ultimate sacrifice, and even when dying he did it so that his brother could become even stronger. While he did leave Sasuke extremely confused, through edo tensei it seems he was able to at least begin to bring his brother back into the light.

3. Jiraiya - went out like a complete boss. He managed to take out three of Pain, which is an extremely impressive feat. Survived many different life threatening wounds (for all we know it's possible he could have still lived, even though that seems unlikely, if not for being kicked into the ocean) and went out with a smile on his face. Also, he was able to still get some very important intel on Pain that really ended up helping Konoha. This death was actually the hardest one to take, as it was completely shocking at the time. In the end, his death strengthened Naruto, and helped him "to know Pain," which made him into a better, more understanding person.

I agree with Zabuza and Jiraiya, but Itachi was going to die regaurdless. to me he made his own death meaningful. it honestly didnt mean too much if sasuke didnt return to the village either soo

I don't care for any of them, they seem so meaningless.
Zabuza died because? No water jutsu that one shots....?

Itachi...traitor, never fought anyone serious but sasuke.

Jman was the coolest death but he could have been Hokage...

good point. I thought of that too, it'd be really s***ty if he died and Sasuke completely ignored it all. On the other hand though, I just loved seeing him push his brother so far, when he knew he was dying anyways. Although Sasuke was too stupid to realize it, he did it all and lived for him.

In no particular order:

Jiraiya - the fact that he pushed himself to get that encrypted message done through willpower alone was awesome. Yet another "don't give up" thing that I really love. Considering he was killed by a former student too...sigh. Also meaningful because he was a favorite xD

Haku - sacrificing himself to save the one person he lived for made me both happy and sad (happy that he had someone he felt so strongly about, enough to give up his life, and sad because he was one of my favorites at the time...and it's sad that he saw himself as a mere tool to be disposed of when he was no longer of use).

Sasori - hmm debatable. Chiyo said he let his guard down at the last minute -- this is probably the only "change of heart" death I've actually liked in any series. I think actually, I find his death meaningful because I sympathize with his artistic ideology and related in that way ;P he's a character I connected with well.

i somewhat agree.zabuza was the truth because the way he handed kakashi his own ass to him.i felt he died way to soon because kishi never went into full detail about dudes history.for example,a powerful sharigan user manipulated the kage of rain village.zabuza wasnt having it and tried to kill the kage!! dope. then disaster struck and kishi reanimated him through edo (shake my head).kishi drew at least 20 edos plus 100,000 white zetsus.why add the first great villian into that madness? thats what you call over cook eggs mida
