You realize sales doesn't technically mean quality right?

I mean IMO Naruto and DBZ practically follow the same format.


Part I: a group of protagonists all pulling their weight. At times they run into people they can't beat. Notably the protagonist.

Part II: starts off with the group pulling weight, but ultimately dwindles down to two people with an occassional third doing anything significant.


Dragonball: you've got the whole group working.

Dragonball Z: dwindles down to only Goku and Vegeta being able to do anything with occasional help from Piccolo or Gotenks.


Practically share the personalities too. Naruto-Goku. Happy go lucky and food loving.

Sasuke-Vegeta.... people from notable heritage mad their family got their Shit pushed in. Anti-heroes.


Replace Ninjas with Space Monkeys and there you go. Replace your Bijuu with Dragon Balls...there you go.
