An Englishman and his three Irish friends are on vacation to Australia. After checking in on a local hotel, one of the friends suggests that they should go surfing: "Hey guys, now that we're here, why don't we go down to the beach and rent some surfboards??" "A very good idea!" The two other friends replies as they went to get their shorts. The Englishman however gets hesitant, as he replies: "Hey, I'm not sure if I'll join you guys..." "What do you mean??" The friend replies. "I've never surfed before, and even if it looks fun and all, I don't think I'll try it today... You guys can go though, I'll stay here at the hotel, maybe do some sightseeing." "Hmm... I see. Well I get that it might look scary at first, but I guarantee that you'll love it once you've tried! You don't have to surf today, but at least come to the beach with us. If you're not even on the beach, you'll never get the chance to try it out." "Alright, I'll come to the beach with you, but I won't surf..." He replied. The four friends then went to the beach together as the Englishman sat down by the water-edge, watching his friends out on the ocean. As he sat there, one of his friends came over to him with two surfboards in hand, as he said: "I brought a board for you. I know you said you would wait, but if you're not even in the ocean, you'll never be in a situation where you might surf..." "Fine..." The man replied, as he too ventured out in the hot water. Laying on his board, the Englishman watched as his friends rode the waves. It was then that his friend came over to him again, as he said: "Looks cool, doesn't it? You know what, now that you've come this far, you might as well try it out. Come, I'll show you how!" "I... Alright." The Englishman replied, and after a couple of hours, he had already started to get the hang of it. He loved it, and the four friends rode the waves for the rest of the week.

The moral of this story is that you shouldn't always give in to pressure, but if you don't dare to try new things, you might miss out on things you might love. If you're not even near the situation where you might try new things, you'll never get the chance either! In this case, if you're not even on the beach, you'll never surf =)

Pff,I thought the English man was going to die or something..
Same o_O
But I agree
I thought the Englishman was gonna drown or something :|
Haha, yeah I guess there could be a "counter-moral" to this story if the man got eaten by a shark or something, lol. Then the moral would be; "You don't always need to do things just because your friends say it's safe. Don't give into pressure, you might die O_O" xD =P

waste of time
You posting here obviously was O_O U_U
I take it that you disagree with the moral of this story then.

Don't forget to vote people, every opinion counts!

I thought someone ( the pushy friends ) was gonna be eaten by a freakin' sea monster and the the other guy would say, 'Damn, I friggin' told you so!'

It's funny though.

I was waiting for the scene when he will be attacked by a shark and torn to pieces or a wave would brutally smash him over the rocks nearby causing his unfortunate death.:dunno:
I agree with the moral but I would like to add two points. There are things you want to avoid even if there's pressure by friends, because you might end up liking them (like drugs) and that is easier to trust the opinion of a friend who knows you and loves you in contrast with a stranger or someone that doesn't know you good.

Yes! That is exactly why it says that "You should not always give in to pressure [...]" as somethings are very bad indeed. The moral of this story however, is more about daring to try new things in life, which might look scary, not about falling under group pressure ;)

I'm soory but I don't, that english man should have died =D
Haha, you people are too narrowed viewed xD The reason I wrote this story, is actually from one of my personal life experiences, like trying out downhill for the first time. At first, I was scared, but once I got the hang of it, I discovered one of the coolest things in my life =p If I had just refused (like some of my other friends are doing every time I ask them to join me), I would have missed out on one of the best experiences in my life.
