Critically acclaimed Monster Manga ( And Anime) Will be getting an HBO Live action show.....

As someone who is currently watching the series I can't wait to watch and nitpick when I finish the anime, I find it hard to believe how they are going to find actors for Johan and Ahna ( Twins) However aside from a few scenes I can picture it being done, as long as they keep the grim and downright evil aura from Johan they can't go wrong U_U

It will be directed by Guillermo Del Toro ^_^

And apparently the producer has written plots for sherlock ^_^ Which is the ultimate show comparatively to Monster

Wow this is awesome. This is probably the first manga to be live action adapted by Americans or Westerners.. It will be interesting..

While this is completely doable, since the premise of Monster wasn't that far fetched, the only major concern is that no one could really capture what makes Johan so terrifying. Also to reach a wider audience, HBO should down play the fact that it's based off of an anime/manga.

I wonder how they'd handle the crossdressing scene.

They'll probably keep it based in Germany, but Tenma's name and nationality will probably be changed to something more American. They did the same thing with the film Edge of Tomorrow (All You Need is Kill), so it wouldn't shock me if they did.

I agree regarding Johan, though. He was virtually perfect as an animated character, so I don't know how they plan to find an actor about his age that could pull something like that off.

I wonder how they'd handle the crossdressing scene.

Probably one of those perfect disguise masks, like in Mission Impossible. lol

It's probably going to fail.

1. No one can act and unleash as big charisma as Johan. His eyes are a bit too hard to imitate, it's not exactly possible.

2. They'd need actors that also fulfill the requirements like e.g. twins similarity despite being the opposite gender.

3. And while that, the crossdressing scene is way too complex to do. The actor would need to look exactly like Anna.

4. Guillermo del Toro isn't reliable, he'd more likely do it halfway and abort the project.

I'd love to see it, but I won't have high expectations.

I heard about this maybe a year ago and I haven't heard any other news about it other than Guillermo Del Toro sending in the manuscript to HBO. Who knows if they will pick it up.

I wonder how this will turn out, live action movies usually suck.
