Think about it. Everyone in luffy's family Garp and Dragon are both in conflicting positions. And depending on how Revs treat pirates they all could be in conflicting positions.

• Luffy - Pirate
• Garp - Marine
• Dragon - Revolutionary

AND EVENMORE SO. We haven't seen ANY strong bounty hunters since Alabasta. And all D's are super strong. I mean there has to be strong bounty hunters otherwise The WG wouldn't put bounties on them. So His mom could be that strong bounty hunter we haven't seen.

One thing All D' holders have in common is they want to be free. So being a bounty hunter could lend Luffy's mom that that freedom. The same way it allowed Zoro to be a free (all be it lost) man before he became a pirate.

He was lost and needed money to live so he became a bounty hunter.


And if luffys mom was to be a bounty hunter in the new world she could go anywhere.

• No marines chasing her
• No need for a Job
• She Has the will of D so she is probably New world material and doesnt have to worry about strong pirates
• No need to follow orders
• No need to act out plans
• Free to roam.

We haven't seen any new world bounty hunters so I am predicting luffy's mom will be an uber strong one

Jaguar D Saul Wasn't weak. He was just against Akoji.
And Portgas has one of the greatest endurance feats in this manga. Do you know how terrible it is to carry a child for almost 2 years?

I prefer the theory that Monkey D. Mother (awesome name, btw) was as Tenruybito. It's clear Luffy gets his lineage from the male side of his family, so Monkey D. Mother doesn't actually need to be D. in the first place, hence why she could belong to one of the Royal Families. We already know the Nefertari and the Donquixote, and by the characters of those families we know there could be normal/pretty looking Tenryobito, especially one that understand the rot of the World Government and wanted to get out.

I don't know if she actually married Dragon and got the D. (eh, no pun intended), but I do believe Dragon's actions against the World Government and his "enlightenment" of the actual state of the world might have been derived from her, either fully her idea or as a mutual realization. He seems far too passionate for someone who's father is such a loyal member of the Marines, which can only mean that something led him astray.

I think tying her story with the Tenryobito would allow Oda to connect Luffy's storyline with the Revolutionaries, and shed light to their reasons, as well as allow us to know more of the ancient families.
It's not that I don't like the idea of Monkey D. Mother being a badass Bounty Hunter, but I much prefer the one I stated.

Why Not both. Noble life is super boring. Badass bounty hunting is too stressful. But A world noble that is a badass bounty hunter is great

If she was a Noble, maybe that's why Dragon became a Revolutionary. He was in the Marines, met her, fell in love, had a child (then the Nobles found out and had her killed, luckily enough that was after Luffy's birth) all this happening caused Dragon to hate the WG and the way things are.
