Who really is the monster who is the Man that was second best to Roger? prime garp vs prime edward or old garp vs old garp? Between this two man who is the true man who could have truly gave Roger a great match

gotta say whitebeard. IDK how roger fought whitebeard before but I just cant see garp being able to beat whitebeard. ESPECIALLY if they are both prime

To be honest in a fight between these two it could go either way since they BOTH battled with Roger evenly however if we are talking about Marineford Whitebeard vs Marineford Garp I just can't see a sick old Whitebeard beating just an old Garp.

In their Prime they would have most likely tied with one another (IMO Garp is stronger) but since I have no proof that one was stronger than the other I'm going to say it would end in a tie.

Roger = Garp = Whitebeard.

If u go in OP wiki and write Whitebeard, it says that he was the strongest man in the world and is the only one who was equal to Roger that mean's neither were able to beat each other, the only one to come close was garp, if u dont belive me go here:

Oda isnt a guy who would contradict himself about saying that Wb was the strongest man in the world but garp is stronger than him, he has never contradicted himself in the whole manga of 700 chaps, this is not kishi who changes the strongest hokage, oda doesnt do it WB is

I would say a mix of both, but more like luffy and coby, luffy and smoker are not friends at all, while garp and roger trusted each other, hence why roger trusted garp with his son.

if we are talking prime, it can go either way.....but at marineford, garp would have done it, the reason he didnt was because Ace was there.

I think Garp would in their old age because WB was both old and sick while Garp was just old ... in their prime I think that a fight between any of Roger, Garp and WB could have probably gone either way ... but solely based on the fact that Garp is a ''D'' and that he is Luffy's grandfather and Dragons father I think he was a bit superior, another reason is that even when it came to MF Oda didn't reveal anything of Garp, until WB died he didn't even make Garp figt, all we have seen from him are more or less just 2 punches which both overwhelmed their opponents without much effort on Garps part, Garp's power is still a complete mistery when at MF the powers of WB, Sengoku and the Admirals (ie all the big players except Mihawk) were all revealed

just btw the tite Oda introduces besides a character ''the worlds strongest man'' isn't the most accurate description of someone ... just one example when we first saw Violet it said ''Dancer'', than it was ''trebol unit assasin'' (well not exactly that but you know what I mean) and by now we clearly know that is not the case

No, it isn't sensible to conclude that. It's simple. After Roger's death, there existed one man who had the title of the strongest man. It was crystal clear for everyone that this man, Whitebeard, was indeed the strongest. That suggests that the gap between prime Roger/Whitebeard and Garp was big enough for Whitebeard to be the undisputed strongest man. Furthermore, Oda stated that there was one single man to match Roger. Garp being in this equation means it's contradicting that. Thus we can conclude that because Roger and Garp fought countless times over the period of time it took Roger to reach his prime (he started off around the same age as Luffy and died roughly at same age as Shanks/Mihawk) they were in the same level, but Roger became even more stronger than the max Garp could achieve. That scene between Roger and Garp was to convey that because of the many years they have been fighting, Roger now sees him as one of his own crewmates.

Of course Whitebeard could have done that, no reason to think otherwise. Garp is like Sanji, extremely strong without devil fruit. Give him a good devil fruit and obviously he'll most likely be the strongest, like how Sanji would be stronger than Luffy. Prime Garp is the second strongest of all time behind Roger/Whitebeard
