I have a theory that maybe the reason why Dragon became a revolutionary is because he joined the marines to follow Garp's footsteps but then after a while he noticed what the marines were doing for justice and saw what the world nobles did so he slowly grew a hatred for the world government

I also believe this to be true. Maybe Luffy's mother was a Marine whom was killed by a Tenryuubito?
