Because it's not particularly relevant. In fact it's not relevant at all and even if he would have told it during the story, it would have served no particular purpose whatsoever. Oda could mention and infinite amount of things of this caliber, however there isn't nearly enough space to add all of them to the story, hence he has the SBS.I wonder why monet and sugar's connection was never revealed in the manga. Oda could atleast have monet said something about it when talking to doffy on the den den mushi at punk hazard. Makes me wonder if he didnt just come up with it on the spot. And yes I'm pretty sure he makes many things up on the spot in SBS, not all but I can hardly imagine he anticipates all potential questions. I always imagined that whenever someone asks something he never truly thought about, he tries to find a suitable answer that fits the story making it canon.
