Basically an over-glorified preta path, basically he absorbs whatever ninjutsu comes at him then he can use said ninjutsu that he absorbed, so fighting him with taijutsu was the only option, only problem is, preta path does the exact same thing, and the rinnegan can potentially learn any technique anyway, all momoshiki's ability is, is putting two rinnegan abilities into one ability, much wow , kishi just gave him an over glorified preta path ability that he technically should already have, and rinnegan users like Sasuke gave already demonstrated the capability to assimilate oone's chakra and add it to his own power, madara as well and nagato, idk the difference, I guess turning your opponent into a devil fruit and munching on them is different , or am I missing something that needs elaboration? Or is momoshiki's rinnegan just an hyped preta path ability that got some placebo juice :Sparks:?

Every rinnegan has a different set of abilities

Every person with the rinnegan (besides Hagoromoo) has shown the ability to absorb.
Those without the rinnegan like blind Madara, kaguya, Toneri etc have all shown the same as well.

Still not called preta by either people, so it's a generic six path ability.

Many shinobi have demonstrates absorbing properties even fodders like Yoroi, but Madara's absorbing was limited to hashirama outside of that he didn't absorb anything, maybe due to the hashi face he had that connection. Toneri couldn't absorb those with hamura's special chakra, and kaguya has the rinne sharnningan which is the parent of the rinnegan so her absorbing makes sense Momoshiki's ability is basically just an over glorified preta or generic rinnegan ability as you put it, usually rinnegan techs are special and unrelated to their generic abilities, limbo and amenotejikara to name those known, but momoshiki's is practically preta, a six paths tech.

Yoroi was given that power, a fodder like himself was given that ability.

All powers of Orochimaru's subordinates came from pieces of Oro's white snake powers. So I would never count people like him.

Momo's subordinate was also able to absorb ninjustus as well.

Madara's absorption was put to a hold by Hashirama when he used his wood dragon to start absorbing too.
Besides that, Edo Madara was absorbing all of Edo Hashirama's attacks before hand.
There are limits to what can cannot be absorbed, but what I've notice from any six path chakra individual (Byukagan, sharingan, rinnegan, or even rinne sharingan) is they can absorb, control, and use vessels.

With the rinnegan/tenseigan/rinne sharingan use the power that binds together.
