Well it was red so I doubt it was real rinnegan, plus it only had one ability and it couldn't even see the rasengan coming despite rinnegan being able to see all chakra which kinda makes sense as his main source of vision ain't his rinnegan.

Well, the guy i was arguing with said its a retcon because he thinks the Rinnegan is something only the sage and transmigrants with his chakra can have. That's why he thinks momo having the rinnegan is a retcon.

For me it is. For what you said and that the Sage's Rinnegan steams from the Rinne Sharingan. Momoshiki is from the line of the Otsutsuki that Kaguya was... All the Otsutsuki's with Doujutsu and all were descedants of Kaguya. So how can he have it? Kinshiki like a normal Otsutsuki has only the Byakugan...

No, Not all the otsutsuki descended from kaguya. Momo and kin are descendants of kaguya's kinsmen. They're from another world/dimension that has a shinju. They could've awakened from there.

Also he has the Rinnegan in his hands... That's too weird. I know that not all Otsutsuki descended from Kaguya but in order to even have the Rinnegan as Kishi up until now you need Hago's chakra or transplant like Nagato had it. The tree in their dimension was dead and Momo said that he wanted the power of Tailed Beasts to fulfill Kaguya's wish. So it is unlikely that he ate a fruit. He even used pills for chakra.
