Mom/Dad side of the family.

If It makes you feel better I haven't seen anyone on my mothers side of the family in 15 years. :|

I just hang out with my dad's family all the time, I just find being around them more enjoyable than my other side. Nothing really wrong with that, you shouldn't have to make yourself uncomfortable

15 years?! Damn. Most of my moms side lives nearby where I live whereas my dads side is split up.

Nope. As long as you know in your mind that you love both equally (or maybe favor one side more than the other, we're all human, but still have love for the other) than your fine.

And it's not like you have much control if you only have access to one side. And there are a lot of other factors.

It depends on if you can relate to the less-time side of the family more, if they have anybody who you consider both family and a friend, the age groups and stuff and junk like that. But try to get the best of both worlds, there's nobody like fam.

translation: Do I have to meet EXTENDED family members of a particular side?

Well that depends on you,but it never hurts to try,but its in no way a obligation.But one should socialize,in order to create awareness in a community.

Extended? It depends what you consider extended family members.I for one,consider the family of third-cousins extended relatives.Overall it never hurts to try.Who knows,maybe you'll find someone you get along with.

You don't -HAVE- to do anything. Unless a guy is holding a gun up to your head and you want to live then you don't have to do anything.

I know no one on my dads side because they never get together or want to meet.

Both sides obviously have different traits that you may like and dislike, therefore it is impossible to like both sides equally, they're your family and you should love them but it doesn't mean you will get along with everyone, that's just human nature.

Not at all. It is l just a matter of opinion. From my experience at least I prefer my father's side as they are not judgemental.
