From Nintendo to Sony to Microsoft, we fans have had the privilege to launch a Rasengan on a console and in handheld fashion. Now it’s time for Naruto to make his leap to a new dimension of games – mobile!
GREE, one of the largest mobile phone game platforms and social networking services in Japan, has announced that it is teaming up with Namco Bandai Games to offer the first official mobile Naruto game in English! This mobile Naruto game will of course be launched in Japanese for Japan, but what excites us is that the game is confirmed for a North American launch!
The game, tentatively titled Naruto x GREE is a social, roleplaying card game. Players will collect ninja cards featuring illustrations of characters from the series, taking on missions and other forms of challenges to raise their skill levels. They can then join together with friends to form strong ninja teams and defeat enemies.
GREE plans to release the game to feature phones by the end of June in Japan, with smartphones (Android and iOS) planned for later this summer. Japanese users can register in advance on GREE’s website, giving them the opportunity to receive bonus in-game extras.
No word on when the game will be released in North America or if Europe will get a version, but it’s quite possible we may hear something soon as GREE has confirmed they will have a presence at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles (which takes place from June 5 to June 7). We hope to keep you updated as more news surfaces!
