The March issue of Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine revealed on Friday that Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro will launch a new gag manga in the magazine's May issue on April 1.

Mitsutoshi ended his Toriko manga in November. It ran in Weekly Shonen Jump for eight years since 2008. Shueisha published the manga's 43rd and final compiled book volume on December 31. Viz Media published new chapters of the manga digitally simultaneously with the Japanese release in its digital English version of the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and also published the manga's 35th volume in print last August.

The manga inspired a 147-episode television anime series in 2011-2014. Crunchyroll streamed the series, and Funimation released part of the series on DVD. The manga also inspired several anime specials and crossover specials, and an anime film in 2013.

Edit: Not 100% confirmed if it's a new manga series or just a one shot. I'm hoping it's latter.

It's funny how mangaka who worked on weekly series tend to take a break by working on monthly (or now bimonthly) titles. xD Can't blame them though.

Yeah, less workload. Gag series is one of his thing since the series he did before Toriko was a gag series and very popular. It ended prematurely since he got sentenced to jail.
