Okay so at this point in the game there is just as much evidence pointing towards Orochimaru being the father as there is of him being of Ootsutsuki lineage. Let's wrap up everything we know about him.
1.) Name
Mitsuki name translates to 'full moon', he obviously has some connection the the Ōtsutsuki clan. Pretty striking first fact that's hard to overlook.
VERDICT: Moon people
2.) Abilities
Luffy style extendo arms bears a similarity with Orochimaru's moveset.
VERDICT: Orochimaru
3.) The Mitsuki One-Shot
Mitsuki's focus on Tsunade and the legendary Uchiha clan in the official translation. Points to Snake man.
VERDICT: Orochimaru
4.) Appearance
Just going from appearance he is clearly not entirely human. His appearance in Gaiden bears resemblance to Toneri and general Ootsutsuki but the Perriot image makes his eyes more narrow, snake-like even. He seems familiar to Orochimaru's body host from the end of Part 1. The eyes also match Oro's.
VERDICT: Undecided.
5.) Team Dynamic
Not a lot from a plot dynamic that a child of Orochimaru's can add to the plot and seems distracting. Just from a symmetry POV it makes more sense for Boruto's team to be a Uchiha, a Uzumaki and an Ootsutsuki- resolving the Ootsutsuki feud and settling any bad blood between them by allowing them in the village.
VERDICT: Another Ootsutsuki victory
6.) Mitsuki's Personality
Seems cool and quiet, but somewhat of a trickster. Every time he has spoken to a character he ominously refers to them as their role in Konoha ancestry rather than their actual identities. Has a strange tendency to detail information on his own classmates in a disconnected odd way-(Sarada, Chocho & Boruto) Seems obsessed with information. This points towards Orochimaru but then the spy theory comes into play. Considering the threat of the film this theory in action points to the other side of the moon.
VERDICT: An iffy Ootsutsuki win
