1. the lightning in LoK is not on the same level as Ozai's, Iroh's or Azula's. They use "weaker" forms of it.
2. The technique was rare because it was kept a secret and was only learnable by high-tier firebenders. It's pretty much the same as Toph being the first metal bender. She wasn't the first because she is such a talented bender, but because she just was the first who found out that metal still has bendable parts of the earth-element inside. Soon after that, there were hundreds of metal benders because the technique went public.

Yeah i know, i mean how cool and interesting abilities that were hyped and held with high regard turned into cannon fodder or just another run of mill techs later on. Although i guess thats natural for the progression of the story, still it irks me. SSJ was cooler b4 everyone started to spam it, same with Chidori/Rasengan, Lightning/Metal Bending etc

So far it looks boring. I thought kishi would actually writing something without crazy power levels but I guess I was wrong. That guy has the hots for OP shit since the start.

Sarada will unlock the rinnegan next chapter and boruto the tenseigan plus chakra mode from naruto.

Sakura will show us slug sage mode and sasuke will go snake sage mode. Oh I almost forgot, Lee will go Lee sage mode too. Maybe tenten will go tenten sage mode.
