…So this is his role in the movie. In the bonus movie book, his entry says:

“I’m grateful when my parent shows me respect”
A newcomer from another village who supports Boruto and Sarada.
- A young boy who transferred into Konoha’s Ninja academy from another village. Standing out from the rest due to his exceptional talent, he becomes a genin without falling behind his peers, later taking on the chunin exams. Possessing a sense of calmness not matching his age, he reliably supports his teammates, Boruto and Sarada.

…And Kishimoto’s comments from his design entry:
“At first I designed him with a semi-long bob cut. I managed to draw it, but it looked terrible… The design calmed down a lot when I gave him a light, wavy hairstyle.”

- White, wavy hair. Gold, snake-like eyes which indicate his bloodline to ‘that’ shinobi

So it's absolute that Mitsuki's Orochimaru's child alone

I should've picked up on Mitsuki being his child when he first spoke to Sarada and Chōchō in Gaiden. His speech patterns and direct manner was something he picked up from Oro.

You see, being plain-spoken and direct is unorthodox in Japan and can be considered even rude. So it was something that made Oro, and Mitsuki stand out.

Orochimaru entered another body and impregnated the body and stayed inside nursing the infant with chakra till it came out. Then he ripped open the mothers throat, fed the blood to the baby, and that's why he's so strong.

Mitsuki and Inojin are quite similar

Both are pale
Both are leaders/manages their team
Both are cool headed

I could see why Kishi wanted both of them to fight against each other in the chuunin exams.
