Ok guys let's think back when Orochimaru took over the Leaf with the Sands help.

He took the face of Gaara's father the 4th Kazekage, and he proceeded to the Leaf using his body.

My question is, if he took his body why has he not used the 4ths abilities?

His gold sand seems to be very powerful and useful, why not use those techniques? Is this a mistake or just Kishi not wanting to give Orochimaru an ability like that.

This seems to be the case. I don't think he actually took over the body, like he did with Gen'yūmaru; he just killed the Kage so that he wouldn't appear at the Chunin Exams.
