Simple: When L got the death note in possession, surely her must have thought about comparing the handwriting of Misa?

Or did I miss something?

I find it almost impossible for L not to make this correlation.

To use NB's terms: Plothole?

L already knew Misa and Light were the Kira's. He stop trying to get them because they lost there memories and thought that Kira could possess people. Right? lol

Well he didn't think that she is smart enough to pull something like that since she is stupid :3

Doesn't matter, Light and Misa were 100% surely KIRAs. The real question was that were they just acting that they lost memories of Death note or did they lost memories of Death note because the power passed on to other people.

My point is not that it was somehow unclear to him. He knew. My point being is that is was actual proof right in front of him...

We are talking about a genius here, two actually... It was a risky move on Light's behalf as well... I mean, I would have think of comparising handwriting immediately... It was rather smart of Light to not use his own book...

And as far as justice goes... maybe Kira was controlling her, but she would have to prove that somehow... nice leverage for a confession, I'd say...

That it was Misa who wrote in it.

Even if he had done that(And it's also possible that he did it off-screen), the investigation wouldn't have gone anywhere. L's theory was that Misa lost her memories and the power passed on to Higuchi which they captured. Light had also lost his memories, so his Death note would be possessed by another person who continued the killings after Higuchi was captured. However Light planned this further, 13 days rule made sure that Light and Misa couldn't have been KIRAs when they were prisoned, so if they supposebly acted that they've forgotten everything about Death note, they would have died in 13 days, so L had no other choice than free them from surveillance.

Sorry, might have gone little off-topic, lol

Maybe not... no different direction, but still I found it weird enough to make a thread about it.

I mean, would L's personality really be bound be written rules? Wouldn't he think outside the box, those rules, more than asking the obvious painful questions for Light to show awkward faces to? On his deathbed he showed every kind of emotion that he knew, and should've known better.

Guess I am a little too fond of L to see his last wits to go like that... He was an awesome character

Honestly I feel the same way if I find plot holes in the Liar Game xd it's natural to want to question things in a story like this
