Some people on Nb are all about the idea of "havining Susanoo and Amaterasu make you somehow unbeatable". Sorry to say it but guys, you're wrong.
I won't be picking up pages to support what I'm saying coz I don't feel like doing it. If you read the manga, you'll surely see what I'm saying, at least if you're not single-minded. Some will say I'm a Itachi or Sasuke hater. In fact I like the guys, but I'm just rational. Last but not least,I won't speculate over the effects on a EMS's owner coz we don't know.
Now my point. In the narutoverse, great techniques are least as dangerous as powerful (cf Naruto using Kurama's chakra=> shortens its lifetime, FRS, Tsukuyomi, Chiyo's or Nagato's resurrection technique, Shira Tensei ...). Let us go for it.
Amaterasu: using it makes your sharingan bleed (manga, see Sasuke vs B/A/Danzou or Itachi vs "Jiraya"/Sasuke). In the Japanese's culture nose bleeding means being sexually excitated so I don't know if eye's bleeding has a particular meaning. But until I'm proved wrong, for me it means side effects. It's fire coming through your eyes so unless they don't have the same body organization as us homo sapiens, their sinews are being damaged.
Susanoo: using it is painful dixit Sasuke. Itachi even coughed blood. Yes he was sick. But he planned on using it while fighting Sasuke (to seal Orochimaru) and die. To see how strong your little brother was, what was better than using your best technique (ultimate defense/ultimate attack)? If you were willing to die, why not use it? Coz he may have not been able to seal Oro. He could have died before Sasuke used all his chakra ( so Oro could come out). He didn't use it until the very end because he couldn't stand the pain/ technique for anytime longer than what he did. He couldn't use it before.
It all came from the manga. Go read if this seems weird or if you think I'm making up.
This goes to all the "Itachi would rape Jiraya, Minato (saying those coz they're what I saw), X's ass coz he has Susanoo and Amaterasu". If you disagree and have some decent arguments, feel free to share.
