Sasuke still broke out of the genjutsu. :| Itachi probably dragged on the genjutsu to give Sasuke an ample chance to break it, but that doesn't mean the genjutsu was any weaker. If it had been it wouldn't have put as much strain on Itachi as it did.

I don't think a weaker genjutsu would have affected Itachi to that degree. That was his first use of magenkyou all day and it was enough to bring him to his knees
