Misconception About Naruto Themes

People keep saying one of the themes of Naruto is the new generation surpassing the previous generations. I say that's COMPLETELY inaccurate.

What this story has been about is NARUTO (and Sasuke) surpassing the previous generations. That's it.

No one else (other than Sasuke) has surpassed their predecessors. All the hokages before Tsunade were stronger than her. Lee is still stuck at 6 gates. Sakura never surpassed Tsunade. The previous Raikage (Ay's father) is said to have been the strongest. Hinata took the gentle fist technique to a whole new level with the twin lion fists but we don't know if she surpassed her father or sister with it


If Kishi expects us to believe this theme he's FOS.

And don't get me started on the hard work beating out natural talent bit. A complete and utter joke.

Indeed, I believe this is what I labelled the thing: Bi-shounen, feminine, un-intimidating, failtagonist. There was more, but I forget. XD Tbh, the concept sketches looked WAAAY better. Doesn't even give off antagonist vibes.

The animators decimated (maybe it was Kishi himself) Kishi's concept sketches of Toneri. Turned him into some un-intimidating, Bishounen, femanine, pleb, thing that looks like the biggest FAILantagonist ever.

God Madara massacres all of Narutoverse. Without the 3rd eye vs current Sasuke...IDK....I think Sasuke would give him a run for his money. EMS Mads vs EMS Sasuke? Hmmm....this is a toughie...have to give it to Mads.

Minato vs current Naruto? Naruto surpassed him in Sage mode and has biju mode...Nads takes this....Nads is the only person in the series to surpass his predecessors (Sasuke surpassed Itachi....not sure about Mads)

"Shinobi are those who endure" shut up about who is stronger than who.

This isn't just about physical strength but also philosophically. Naruto supposedly find an answer to peace which his predecessors haven't. What's his answer? Be Naruto. Because Naruto is Naruto ppl want to help him and love him. God help you if you're not Naruto and trying to bring peace. You're not likeable enough.
