"The Yamanaka are a proud ninja family who has had the power of influencing the minds of other people, speak telepathically and maybe most impressive of all; reading minds. The most notable combat techniques the WE Yamanaka practice is the mind body switch technique, that let's us control the body of a person by switching our minds with theirs. However, this signature technique can also be used on non-humans. The Yamanakas also have a high and spiritual minds. "

"Indeed, the Yamanaka were always Yin oriented, and their practices were powerful, albeit untapped somewhat. They were good for recon-work, as well as spying, however, little did they realize how useful they were in battle too. They are the true puppet-masters, aren't they?"

Rules of Engagement

Yamanaka boast heightened spiritual prowess when utilizing their techniques. Against the standard, non-specialized target, Yamanaka can overpower their will and use their body freely, though there are constraints. Depending on the rank of the target respective to the caster, the target may or may not be able to release the hold of a Yamanaka easier than others. Maintaining a hold for a Yamanaka depends on their focus on the target for as long as that target's will remains a problem. They are fighting the target's will while simultaneously controlling the target.

Casting/Holding
  • Against targets 1+ ranks higher: User is unable to use techniques above A-rank for three turns nor are the able to utilize advanced ninjutsu such as Fuinjutsu, Medical-nin, Kin, etc while.
  • Against targets equal rank: Users are unable to use use techniques above A-rank for three turns.
  • Against targets 1 rank below: Users are unable to use techniques above S-rank for three turns.
  • Against targets 2+ ranks below: Users have complete autonomy over the target without being restricted.
If three turns pass without the Yamanaka being force out, the target will be rendered unable to regain control of their body until the technique ends. After three turns, the user becomes capable of utilizing their full abilities without being inhibited.

Breaking/Defending
  • Targets 1+ rank higher: Can break techniques without chakra through the use of Killing Intent to break the focus of the user, thereby ending the technique. It costs one move.
  • Targets equal rank and below: Require a will or mental deterrent to break the hold.
Alternatively, external interference such as mentally damaging ninjutsu or genjutsu (above B-rank) cast upon the user could also break their focus. Extreme pain (high grade taijutsu, severe physical damage) inflicted to the user could also break their hold.

These responsive methods only work within the first three turns of being captured, after which a Yamanaka's hold is indefinite until the jutsu naturally ends or they end it themselves.

Spiritual Vantage Points
  • Yin Release Yamanaka: If a Yamanaka possess Yin release the strength of their techniques increases considerably. Targets drop in rank by 1 respective to where they ordinarily would be against the Yamanaka. The only exception would members one ran or above, the user would considered equal rank. As well, Yamanaka cannot be blocked from entering the mind of an opponent if they are within the line of capture. To avoid being captured one must prevent the technique or be out of the range.
  • Yin Release Targets: If the target of a Yamanaka possesses Yin Release, then they possess the spiritual and mental capabilities to defend against them on equal playing field. Those who would ordinarily be lower ranked than the Yamanaka would be equal rank spiritually and those equal rank would be superior and would be able to force them out without the need for chakra (though at the cost of a turn).

Zora was given the scroll of casting and repelling of the Yamanaka clans abilities. A scroll she had wanted to look on since the passing of her father. She was finally given answers to what she was capable of and how to utilize it. She opened the scroll and started to read.

"The Yamanaka are spiritual in nature, and it is dependent on the technique you are talking about. That is an overall guideline, but it becomes more specific once we dwell into the techniques themselves. As for you question regarding restrictions, they are active whilst controlling the target and sometimes become less once more control is achieved, and is also reliant on your own rank, control and even whether you have Yin, or not. Speaking of Yin, that is also specified within the techniques themselves, and will be covered under the Yin training itself, if need be. I unfortunately, do not harbor any concrete knowledge regarding Yin at this hour.."

The voice stated regrettably, as the person had always wanted to become a master of Yin, but that seemed unlikely. Nonetheless, the voice remained stoic.

"Indeed, there is a difference whether or not you have Yin, and whether the opponent has it. It'd increase their defense, and your offense (as stated in the Spiritual Vantage points). As for chakra sensing, that you have by default, as a Yamanaka. Anyway, if that is all you wish to know, or if you wish for us to deconstruct the rules of engagement one by one for better understanding, we can do so too?"

The cloaked figure asked, knowing that the information might not be easy to digest all at once.

Zora listened and took the information. She always had the scroll anyway so it didn't really matter if she forgot something minor outside combat.

"This is mine now yes?"

She held up the scroll.

(Shintenshin no Jutsu) - Mind Body Switch Technique

Description: The Mind Body Switch Technique is the signature technique of the Yamanaka clan. Originally, this ninjutsu was suited for intelligence-gathering missions rather than battle. With it, a ninja sends his mind as spiritual energy into a target's body supplanting the target's mind with their own. The user transfers their consciousness to the target, giving them complete control of the body for a short period of time. While in control of the body, the user is able to communicate with the target. Since the user is in another body, they are also able to use that body's chakra. It is also possible for the user to switch bodies with the target. This has great strategic value when used on a team-mate as neither body is left incapacitated and they may also make use of the user's abilities as well as their own while doing this. To remain inconspicuous when spying, the user can perform this technique on an animal, such as a hawk, which they can use to do aerial reconnaissance. It is generally used on immobilized targets. Conversely, however, the user's original body is left defenseless while this technique is active, leaving it susceptible to attack until they return. The mind transfer moves slowly in a straight direction and takes some time to return to the user's body if it misses. Similarly, if the opponent's will is strong enough, they can force the user from their body, as Sakura Haruno did to Ino Yamanaka during the Chūnin Exams. Also, if the user's chakra level is low, the technique will be harder to maintain. Furthermore, should any physical injury befall the victim's body while the mind link is active, it would cause the user's body to also receive those same injuries. This can be rectified if user cancels the technique before the victim's body receives the damage.
Note: This technique gives the user control over the victim's body and chakra such that, the target is incapable of using any technique that is not directed at breaking the technique's hold on them.
Note: Switching bodies with a target grants full autonomy to both parties to utilize the body and chakra of their respective host, however, both parties are still linked mentally and physically and thus, any damage inflicted on one happens to the other. If either member leaves their host while the other still occupies the other body, their consciousness will be lost in a sort of purgatory until the technique ends and they'll be unable to return. However, the Yamanaka who cast the technique is free to end the technique at any time.
Note: The duration of this technique lasts 10 turns and the target becomes incapable of breaking free after 3 turns. If the body swapping version of this technique is used the technique lasts 5 turns.
Note: This technique requires a cool down equivalent to the number of turns it was sustained after 4 turns.

Zora grabbed the scroll that was tossed towards her. It contained the description of the mind body switch method, the Yamanaka's most famous jutsu. She had already gained a lot of intel about the technique beforehand but she would read it through.

"QUESTIONNNN!!! I am aware that my body takes damage if i am using my opponents body, but if i were to use say water replacement or some other jutsu that neglects(to some extent) physical injuries, would my body still be hurt or? Also if a genjutsu is cast upon my body before my mind switch body technique occurs, would i be the one to fall into it or would it be my opponent who falls into the genjutsu?"

"No it wouldn't, since you dodged the damage (you mean with the opponents' body?) and I believe its only for physical injury (I will confirm this, just remind me). As for Genjutsu, it would affect you."

Summarize:

"This jutsu lets me take control of my opponents body by switching my consciousness with his/hers. The jutsu travels in a straight line and when landing on the targeted body it is absolute and can only be broken by willpower. After a certain amount of turns it cannot though. The willpower of the target needed to break this takeover depends on ranks and Yin factors. As a user of this technique i need to be aware of the circumstances of the jutsu. I will be left defenseless myself."

(Shindenshin no Jutsu) - Mind Body Transmission Technique
Type: Supplementary

Description: This is a technique that allows Yamanaka members to communicate with people telepathically. Using this technique, the Yamanaka may also act as a medium for persons to communicate with one another telepathically; this is done through establishing physical contact with the person. The user can communicate with multiple people at once and the targets can also communicate with one another while the technique is in effect. This technique is not limited to just transmitting thoughts, Images such as memories or even strong feelings can be conveyed through this method. The more people that are connection through this technique however, the more a physical strain is put on the user, forcing them to keep the connection going for shorter periods to otherwise avoid sustaining injuries.
Note: The user may use this technique on as many members as their chakra allows. However, should the connection exceed more than 5 people, the duration of the technique shortens.
Note: The user is able to telepathically communicate to anybody within their range of sensory (sensory technique must be active) and can last for 5 turns consecutively. If the number of persons linked through this technique exceed 5, then then the technique lasts 4 turns. Beyond 10 members and the technique only lasts 2 turns.
Note: If used on more than 5 people the user must wait 3 turns before re-use.

"This technique is quite cool. You gain a mental link to people and even opponents, which can be used to confuse them. Kinda like the empty cicada shell technique although a bit more advanced since you can project images and emotions too. I guess my only question would be if it can be used on an opponents summonings/sentient beings/paths etc as well."

Description: A ninjutsu where one sends their chakra into the subject's nervous system, thus gaining complete control of the target's body. Those caught in the technique will fall completely under the user's control, as their bodies become disconnected from their will. The difference between this and the Mind Body Switch Technique is that the caster doesn't project their consciousness into the target's body. Situations of numerical superiority for the adversary are precisely where this technique, which freely manipulates human beings, will display its efficiency, by getting enemies to turn on one another. Control can be exerted even from long distances. At a minimum, this technique allows for the user to manipulate the body of the target to perform non-chakra oriented movements and actions. Yamanaka with considerable strength over their opponent can force targets to use chakra and techniques through force of will. With this technique the user can issue any command from killing a teammate, releasing a jutsu, revealing secrets, etc. The limitation to this technique is that the user cannot order the victim to kill themselves or cause otherwise fatal injuries.
Note: Against opponents or otherwise unwilling participants that are of higher rank than the Yamanaka, the user can only force non-chakra related actions such as taijutsu. For equal ranked opponents, the user can force opponents to release active techniques such as modes, summons, and clones, though cannot force their hand at casting techniques. Against weaker opponents, the user can compel the use of other ninjutsu and other chakra based techniques.
Note: This technique lasts 6 turns unless broken prior. While utilizing this technique, the user becomes incapable of utilizing techniques above A-rank or advanced ninjutsu such as Fuin, Medical, Y-Y, etc for three turns. After complete control over the user they are capable of using their techniques S-rank and below.
Note: This technique requires a cool down equivalent to the number of turns it was sustained.

There are indeed limitations.

1, The user cannot order the target to kill themselves.
2, The user cannot perform ninjutsu above A-rank as they control a target.
3, The technique depends heavily on the clashing of ranks between the user and the opponent and thus limits the user of the technique more if the opponent is of higher rank. This limits the user to control the opponent to a non-chakra extent, taijutsu only.
4, Doesn't cover all ranges(short-mid).

Alright i don't really need to explain this technique since it's practically the same as the other one. I've used it quite alot in my recent battles(the lesser version) and i've hindered my opponents movements quite alot. Hasn't been a time yet where i could use it to the extent of hindering them from using ninjutsu but yeah.
