Pretty sure I ended up choosing Yamanaka when someone said it wasn't really an explored option and thought it was a nice ability to explore, and now here we are. :p

So from my general knowledge, the Yamanaka is a clan in Konoha known mostly for their relationship and teamwork with the Nara and Akimichi clans. They also run a flower shop, which I'm guessing would imply most people in the clan would have substantial knowledge of flowers and general botany.

Like most of the clans in Konoha, they hold a hiden ability which revolves around the mind, but also extends to the body and spirituality. I don't know how exactly the abilities could be pinpointed as to what they can and can't do, but I'd like to think their abilities and jutsu can be used to manipulate the mind in various ways. This has been shown with the jutsu they use, being able to insert their own conciousness into the body of another, mental communication with others, or just outright manipulating the body itself. In a sense it's very similar to genjutsu which is something that attracted me to the clan initially. But because in most cases these techniques are based on possession, rather than illusion or influence, Yamanaka techniques can have their place over genjutsu in some cases, albeit being more difficult to use effectively.

It probably doesn't mean anything at this stage, but Yamanaka clansmen seem to be far more likely to be affiliated with Yin Release, due to their innate abilities with the mind and spirituality.

Perhaps we should now revisit some ideal points about Yamanaka, seeing as they got that update xD.
Let's break it down.

Let's start with the rules of engagement that Reborn laid down in the Yamanaka thread yesterday. Tell me a bit about that.

Rules of engagement refers to when someone becomes the subject of Yamanaka ninjutsu, and how they can react to it. There's two parts to this, the first being the Yamanaka user, and the other being the person defending themselves from the jutsu.

Regardless of whether the Yamanaka is casting either the Switch or Disturbance techniques (or their child techniques), there is a limit to what the user is capable of performing while having a hold over their target. Using myself as an example, I'm Sannin rank which means pretty much everyone can break out of the jutsu I use fairly easily lmao. But that aside, I'll still use myself as an example for this seeing as it's easier for me.

  • Against Kage-ranked and above people, I'm unable to perform jutsu above A-Rank, nor can I perform ninjutsu that requires heavy chakra control such as Fuuinjutsu, Medical Jutsu etc. I'm curious if this would extend to Genjutsu too...
  • Sannin-ranked people is the same as above, sans the no advanced jutsu clause.
  • S-Class Ninja is nothing above S-Rank
  • Jounin and below has no restrictions
This only applies to the first three turns in which a Yamanaka attempts to cement their hold over the target's body and suppress their spirit. After that, there is no restrictions as to what the Yamanaka can perform.

The second part of the engagement is about defending against the Yamanaka techniques. In simple terms, anyone who is a rank higher than I am can use the Killing Intent to break free of the techniques. Anyone else has to find some other way, such as a strong will to break the hold. I'm not actually sure how you'd break out with just a strong will, the only way I could think of is if you had a separate mind, such as a Jinchuriki or Soma no Kou biography...

Anyway, the first point of defense would work on both variants of the Yamanaka techniques, as it serves to disorient their focus from the technique at hand. However I would believe that simply having a "strong will" would serve to be ineffective against the Disturbance variant, as it doesn't take a hold of someone's mind, but rather their body.

For Yamanaka and targets with Yin Release it simply makes attacking/defending stronger. I won't touch on it too much since I don't have it, but to put it simply a Yamanaka with Yin Release can act as if they have a rank higher. In my case, I would consider the rules of engagement for casting as if I were a Kage-ranked ninja instead. For people defending, it's simply going from lower rank > equal footing > stronger than the caster.

It might extend to Gen as well, to be honest. Nonetheless, good analysis. Let's see if we can break down the techniques as well.

(Shintenshin no Jutsu) - Mind Body Switch Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: C
Range: Short - Long
Chakra: 15
Damage: N/A
Description: The Mind Body Switch Technique is the signature technique of the Yamanaka clan. Originally, this ninjutsu was suited for intelligence-gathering missions rather than battle. With it, a ninja sends his mind as spiritual energy into a target's body supplanting the target's mind with their own. The user transfers their consciousness to the target, giving them complete control of the body for a short period of time. While in control of the body, the user is able to communicate with the target. Since the user is in another body, they are also able to use that body's chakra. It is also possible for the user to switch bodies with the target. This has great strategic value when used on a team-mate as neither body is left incapacitated and they may also make use of the user's abilities as well as their own while doing this. To remain inconspicuous when spying, the user can perform this technique on an animal, such as a hawk, which they can use to do aerial reconnaissance. It is generally used on immobilized targets. Conversely, however, the user's original body is left defenseless while this technique is active, leaving it susceptible to attack until they return. The mind transfer moves slowly in a straight direction and takes some time to return to the user's body if it misses. Similarly, if the opponent's will is strong enough, they can force the user from their body, as Sakura Haruno did to Ino Yamanaka during the Chūnin Exams. Also, if the user's chakra level is low, the technique will be harder to maintain. Furthermore, should any physical injury befall the victim's body while the mind link is active, it would cause the user's body to also receive those same injuries. This can be rectified if user cancels the technique before the victim's body receives the damage.
Note: This technique gives the user control over the victim's body and chakra such that, the target is incapable of using any technique that is not directed at breaking the technique's hold on them.
Note: Switching bodies with a target grants full autonomy to both parties to utilize the body and chakra of their respective host, however, both parties are still linked mentally and physically and thus, any damage inflicted on one happens to the other. If either member leaves their host while the other still occupies the other body, their consciousness will be lost in a sort of purgatory until the technique ends and they'll be unable to return. However, the Yamanaka who cast the technique is free to end the technique at any time.
Note: The duration of this technique lasts 10 turns and the target becomes incapable of breaking free after 3 turns. If the body swapping version of this technique is used the technique lasts 5 turns.
Note: This technique requires a cool down equivalent to the number of turns it was sustained after 4 turns.

Mind Body Switch technique, the signature technique. With regard to the aforementioned rules of engagement, tell me a bit about the technique. It has some nice goodies hidden in the description, though some disadvantages too. I'll add what you missed, if you do miss something <,< You're pretty thorough.

Likely considered the pinnacle of the Yamanaka clan's techniques, the Mind Body Switch is the jutsu they're most known for. It works on the principle of sending your own mind or conciousness towards the target, and with that done you suppress their own and take a hold of their body. Alternatively, the user can switch the mind of himself with the target, which is another great use in general, but I'll get to that later.

The main purpose of this technique was for supplementary purposes, such as intelligence gathering, reconnaisance and so on, the possibilities of what one can do with this jutsu is pretty unlimited if you asked me. In essence this jutsu has two specific ways of performance: possession, and switching.

Possession works as the initial use, where the Yamanaka will send their conciousness to the target and take a hold of their body. This works by suppressing the target's own conciousness and possessing the body as if it were their own. Naturally, this allows the user to use their body in any way, shape or form they like. This includes but is not limited to their movements, chakra, general shape etc. An instance would be I could take hold of someone, and use powerful techniques just to waste their own chakra reserves. The downside to the chakra means you can only use what the host would know, as it would be physically impossible otherwise. If the target didn't know any Fire ninjutsu, I wouldn't be able to use it while in possession of their body. In short, it requires both parties to be physically capable of using the techniques to use them.

This usage is also used for the supplements of spying, intel and recon. It allows you to take control of helpless people, animals and use their body as if it were your own, unbeknownst to other people that you are the person in possession. It also allows for communication within the mind, allowing for a subtle form of talking to another person.

The biggest downfall of this particular usage is it leaves your body defenseless. In its supplementary use this is a technique best used while hidden, so a person can't do anything damaging to the original body. In a battle there's not much you can do aside from set up some defenses beforehand.

The second application is the switch. It works within the same parameters as the initial use, but with the difference being the target will take possession of your own body in the process. It eliminates the biggest downfall of the first usage, that being the leaving your body as if it were dead aspect. Ideally you would use this on someone allied with you so they can still fight within you; using it on someone hostile towards you may not be the best action you can take, as they can still fight back with your body and chakra. It seems they also have the same reign over your body as you would theirs, with the only difference being they may not be aware of what is happening, and as such would leave an opening to attack. But in this RP no one would actually work that way, so it's a moot point lol.

This is just me theorycrafting, but I feel as if the best application of this jutsu would be to eliminate an ally from a genjutsu where they wouldn't be capable of doing anything. Considering that's an assault on the mind, and this would be casually switching minds, I'm not actually sure what would happen in that case, but I'm guessing you could easily break the illusion through that method. I could be wrong about that, probably something I'd have to ask Kevin about.

As a whole, this technique while extremely powerful seems to have quite a few shortcomings. The first and most glaring being it leaves your body defenseless. In a one-on-one fight this may not be a huge detriment, but in general, or fights with more than one person it wouldn't be a great idea to just outright perform this without taking that into consideration. The second being that this technique travels in a straight line, so while it does have a long range aspect you still have to consider that the possibility of missing is a big problem. Not only that, but missing in general puts your body into the defenseless stasis while you wait for the mind to return to the body. Thirdly, this creates a physical and mental link between the user and their target, meaning any damage the target takes while possessed will be reflected onto the user. I'm not sure if this would work inversely, as in the target taking damage if the original body is hurt, but that's a bridge I'll cross when I get to it.

Looking at the rules of engagement, there's no real difference between how it would work with this jutsu. The only real thing I could mention is that I would believe it only works in accordance to unwilling participants. If someone is willing to become susceptible to the mind transfer, you could consider this without restriction.

Looking at everything I do have a couple of questions. The first being what would be the main perception of this technique being used? From what I can tell it's an invisible projectile so to speak, not to mention it's sending the mind, not chakra. How would you go about knowing that this technique is being used? I'm guessing it'd be your standard chakra sensing, or doujutsu... Secondly could this possibly work through terrain, such as walls, trees etc?

I didn't expect this to be so long, sorry about that!

Definitely ask Kevin about this lmao.

Yeah, in a sense, you are projecting your consciousness, through chakra still. So a form of chakra sensing could pick it up, of course the "WEIRD HAND SEAL, MUST BE YAMANAKA" might actually be used if the opponent really stretches. Its like shooting it, the speed at which it moves is considered "slow" but how slow, currently, I'd have estimate it at being a normal thrown projectile speed? Would make sense that it has to move quite alright in Short range. As for how it works through the terrain, travelling through constructs devoid of chakra seems like it'd be able to be done, but I'd have to get a definitive answer on that. Unfortunately, this is a guinea pig training, so many of your questions will set the bar for the rest :). Great analysis though, Yamanaka is pretty lit.

(Shindenshin no Jutsu) - Mind Body Transmission Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: C
Range: Short - Long
Chakra Cost: 15 (-10 per person)
Damage: N/A
Description: This is a technique that allows Yamanaka members to communicate with people telepathically. Using this technique, the Yamanaka may also act as a medium for persons to communicate with one another telepathically; this is done through establishing physical contact with the person. The user can communicate with multiple people at once and the targets can also communicate with one another while the technique is in effect. This technique is not limited to just transmitting thoughts, Images such as memories or even strong feelings can be conveyed through this method. The more people that are connection through this technique however, the more a physical strain is put on the user, forcing them to keep the connection going for shorter periods to otherwise avoid sustaining injuries.
Note: The user may use this technique on as many members as their chakra allows. However, should the connection exceed more than 5 people, the duration of the technique shortens.
Note: The user is able to telepathically communicate to anybody within their range of sensory (sensory technique must be active) and can last for 5 turns consecutively. If the number of persons linked through this technique exceed 5, then then the technique lasts 4 turns. Beyond 10 members and the technique only lasts 2 turns.
Note: If used on more than 5 people the user must wait 3 turns before re-use.

Let's move on to this one. A pretty seance like technique, but I'll allow you to elaborate.

I remember this jutsu being a lot simpler than it is now, lmao. Basically this is a technique which allows telepathy, or the ability to communicate with people all within the mind. A Yamanaka can either perform this on their own, or through physical contact allow another person to communicate with others. Typically this requires sensory to be active, and can only be used on people within that field of sensory. It's a pretty basic, but simple way of communication with other people at a distance. Can be used on many people at a time, however due to physical strain it becomes less effective over time due to chakra consumption.

One thing that really stands out to me about this is what can be transmitted through this technique. It doesn't limit itself to just words or thoughts, but images, memories and even feelings. I'd say this part alone could have some use in a battle, though it would still be limited. The thoughts, or images could play out akin to genjutsu or try to act as some kind of moral conscience for an enemy. I mean it wouldn't work, but you can definitely distract someone with this.

Just for reference though, what is the distance of how far someone can use the sensory technique, in terms of the NW?

The normal Sensory technique? Just the same land mark.

(Shinranshin no Jutsu ) - Mind Body Disturbance Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: B
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage: N/A
Description: A ninjutsu where one sends their chakra into the subject's nervous system, thus gaining complete control of the target's body. Those caught in the technique will fall completely under the user's control, as their bodies become disconnected from their will. The difference between this and the Mind Body Switch Technique is that the caster doesn't project their consciousness into the target's body. Situations of numerical superiority for the adversary are precisely where this technique, which freely manipulates human beings, will display its efficiency, by getting enemies to turn on one another. Control can be exerted even from long distances. At a minimum, this technique allows for the user to manipulate the body of the target to perform non-chakra oriented movements and actions. Yamanaka with considerable strength over their opponent can force targets to use chakra and techniques through force of will. With this technique the user can issue any command from killing a teammate, releasing a jutsu, revealing secrets, etc. The limitation to this technique is that the user cannot order the victim to kill themselves or cause otherwise fatal injuries.
Note: Against opponents or otherwise unwilling participants that are of higher rank than the Yamanaka, the user can only force non-chakra related actions such as taijutsu. For equal ranked opponents, the user can force opponents to release active techniques such as modes, summons, and clones, though cannot force their hand at casting techniques. Against weaker opponents, the user can compel the use of other ninjutsu and other chakra based techniques.
Note: This technique lasts 6 turns unless broken prior. While utilizing this technique, the user becomes incapable of utilizing techniques above A-rank or advanced ninjutsu such as Fuin, Medical, Y-Y, etc for three turns. After complete control over the user they are capable of using their techniques S-rank and below.
Note: This technique requires a cool down equivalent to the number of turns it was sustained.

A technique where you will send your chakra into the opponent's nervous system, gaining complete control of their body. Difference is that this isn't the consciousness projected, let's talk a bit about this one.

So this technique is very similar to the aforementioned Mind Body Switch, with the key difference being the possession of the target, or lack thereof. Whereas that sends your conciousness or spirit into another's body, this one simply takes control of it, as if they were a puppet of sorts.
That alone comes with a couple of things one should note. The first is that because you're not projecting your own conciousness into another body, yours doesn't become immobile, and you're still perfectly capable of moving and acting freely while in control of this jutsu. That's really the biggest advantage this has over the other technique is the freedom of controlling your own body still. The biggest weakness is because this is unlike the previous jutsu in the sense that you're not suppressing the mind, the target is still completely aware of their own actions, and can therefore still perform their own jutsu. This is merely controlling the body through their nervous system, and against higher level opponents this may not be the best choice of action. However it should be noted you can will people to use jutsu using this if they're weak.

I could see it being an incredible counter if someone tried to go into close range on you, however so it has that going for it. :)

In terms of the Rules of Engagement, this doesn't seem to really follow the same rules so religiously as the switch technique. For one-rank higher targets you can only force them to perform actions without chakra. Same level is the ability to dispel various ninjutsu such as shadow clones, summoning technique etc. and for weaker/willing targets, allows full control akin to the Mind Body Switch technique. Also allows for full control regardless of the rank or strength of someone else's will after three turns.

So I'm guessing this needs to be sustained with the hand seal needed to hold the body hostage, and therefore you wouldn't be able to perform jutsu through your own body while this is in effect. This might sound a little gruesome, but how would this technique work on characters without a will, such as dead bodies?

Good, and I don't think it'd work. This takes control of the nervous system, which is basically "dead" with well, dead bodies.

(Shiranshin no mai Jutsu) - Mind Body Destruction Dance Technique
Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: N/A
Description: This is simply a large-scale version of the Mind Body Disturbance Technique, where the sheer volume of persons affected in a given area is much greater. Like its parent technique it causes the user to gain complete control of the target's body, often forcing allies to attack each other. All components of the parent technique remain with this technique, however, the power is divided evenly among the number of respective targets. This technique can be used on humans as well as animals or other sentient/quasi-sentient entities and up to a total of 4 targets at once. Dividing the range of the technique does not inhibit the overall strength of the hold but rather the duration. Split two ways, the technique lasts 5 turns, split three ways the technique lasts 4 turns, and split four ways the technique lasts 3 turns. The rules of technique restriction from the parent technique are the same for this technique.

A more advanced Mind Body Disturbance Technique, basically now aimed at a larger audience or people. Also animals, sentient and quasi-sentient entities. Pretty lit technique.

Simply on paper it looks to be the previous jutsu, only affecting more people. Except now it's affecting other things, including animals and sentient-like beings. This would extend to anything that breathes some kind of life, and can range from people to animals - either wild or attached to a summoning contract, and also anything that has some sense of sentience. I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty damn good if you want to try and control certain things.

The sentience part really gets to me, like you could control anything that just moves without being controlled. Just off the top of my head I'm thinking this would include any constructs that are created and/or fuelled with chakra such the Golem techniques. Probably would also counter jutsu like the Otsutsuki clan's puppetry style. I think this may have been written specifically with certain people in mind, but I won't name any names. Aside from that it's pretty basic and I've covered everything from the first jutsu.

Yeah indeed, will get clarification on the semi-sentient/quasi-sentient note, and hear what Reborn mean EXACTLY with it. Nonetheless, moving on.

(Shinten Bunshin no Jutsu) - Mind Clone Switch Technique
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique allows the user to possess more than one target simultaneously and, once completed, to freely manipulate the bodies of each individual independent of one another, as if they were the user's own body. Unlike the Mind Body Switch Technique. This technique can travel in a curved line but otherwise, seemingly suffers from the same consequences as the user is still required to transfer their consciousness into the targets. As this technique splits the user's consciousness between multiple bodies, the power of their hold is divided between each body. This technique allows the user to split their consciousness three ways and can work on clones, summons, and other sentient/quasi-sentient entities. Each division of the user's consciousness causes the strength of their hold to drop by one-rank. The rules and restrictions of the parent technique translate to this technique.

Another branching technique, however, now allows you to possess more than one target simultaneously, and freely manipulate it if successful. It can also travel in a curved line. The power of the hold is divided between each body too, so take that into account.

This is the Mind Body Switch, only this time with greater control over the parent jutsu. There are three key components to this jutsu that set it apart from the previous one.

The first is that it seemingly creates copies of your own conciousness and transfers them to their own, and as such allows you to take hold of more than one person at a time. The risk that comes with this is the technique is weakened for everytime you split your conciousness and take a hold of another person. Seeing as the technique is originally of A-Rank, using it on two people would be B-Rank and so on.

The second is that unlike the parent jutsu, this can travel in a curved line as opposed to a straight line. I'd argue that this stems from the Yamanaka's great control over their own jutsu that at a higher level they can move it in more than just a single line, but I digress. It's neat, and would typicall require a stronger technique to break the jutsu if you only used it on one person. It's also short ranged, which is something to keep into consideration.

Lastly, like the Destruction Dance this can be used on any kinds of enemy, ranging from typical animals to summons, or even sentient/quasi-sentient beings. So all in all it's quite a strong jutsu, but should be used more selectively than its parent.

Indeed, you are RIGHT. Sorry for the delay, man. Been caught up. Back in business!

(Shingyakushin no Jutsu) - Mind Body Reversal Technique
Type: Supplementary
Rank: A
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage: N/A
Description: This is a more advanced version of the Mind Body Switch Technique. The Mind Body Reversal technique is a ninjutsu where the user uses their chakra to switch one person's mind with another's. Once the target's mind has been switched with another's by the caster, they are able to use their abilities. However, if the body that they are residing in are lacking in areas of skill that they are normally proficient at, then they are unable to use their own techniques. For example, if one could ordinarily open the Eight Inner Gates or enter Sage Mode on their own, they would only be able to utilize that ability of the host they were switched with could utilize those abilities physically. In order to perform this jutsu, both targets must be within short range of one another and no further than mid-range from the user. Through the use of a unique hand sign, the user will swap the minds and bodies of two individuals. Unlike other Yamanaka techniques, the user does not possess active control over the bodies of the affected persons beyond the ability to release the technique. The technique will naturally end on its own within 4 turns, however, the user is able to end the technique at any time the wish and switch both parties back.
Note: Can only be performed once per pair.

A more advanced versuin of the Mind Body Switch Technique. A technique where you are able to switch the one person's "mind" with the other, basically placing them in each others' bodies, respectively. However, if they are placed in a body that can't use what they normally could, they'd be restricted to that. The targets must in Short range of each other, and Mid range from you, and unfortunately, you can't control the bodies.

Sorry for the late reply >.<

This is a Yamanaka technique I'm pretty sure made its debut in Rock Lee Seishun Full Power. It's very tricky and intricate as to how it's performed, due to it being performed unlike traditional Yamanaka techniques. Whereas those are based on personal possession, this takes the user out of the mind equation. Another big difference is this swaps the minds of two individuals, instead of outright subduing the mind; this bares the most resemblance to Fuu's Mind Puppet Switch technique.

The main gist of this technique is that you take two targets and switch their minds around, housing the other's body. Figuratively, and literally speaking, this is putting two people in someone else's shoes. While in the other body, the targets would only be capable of performing ninjutsu that the other would know. For example, if Person A knows Fire Release and Person B doesn't, then Person A wouldn't be able to use it in the other's body.

Something that really differentiates this ninjutsu from others of the Yamanaka clan is while still being spiritually charged, there's a lack of spiritual nature to fight. With other Yamanaka clan jutsu there's a pertinent force for the target(s) to fight, whether that be the user's spirituality or the chakra hold over their nervous system. This one however lacks that, and just leaves the mind in the body. I'm guessing this means there's no real counter to this; attacking the Yamanaka performing this doesn't seem like it would prematurely end the jutsu either. Your best bet would be to just wait it out or get used to your new body quick and kill the caster. Even then I don't think it would end the jutsu lol.

I don't really see much practical use inside of a fight with this technique, there isn't really any use for it that I can think of. The only real possible use would be to use it on an unsuspecting shinobi and someone else limited in capabilities. A secondary target that comes to mind would be a summoning creature, or possibly another small animal.

It ends on its own, after 4 turns. So pretty much a technique where you have to be smart, and use those 4 turns wisely.

(Shintendou no Jutsu) – Mind Body Confusion Technique
Rank: A - S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 30 - 40 (-10/15 per turn)
Damage points: 60 - 80
Description: This technique causes damage to all foes on the battlefield as well as confuses the main target. This is unique technique within the Yamanaka as it deals with causing mental damage as opposed to actually controlling another's body or will. This technique can be directed at multiple targets though the power would be divided among them. The damage translates into a blaring migraine that causes opponent's minds senses to become fuzzy affecting their ability to react to movements (negating chakra based sensory and heightened base 5 senses) and perform techniques (Above S-rank or A-rank depending on the rank of the technique). When performing this technique, however, Yamanaka are limited to performing only A-rank techniques and below. As well, the more targets under this technique's effects, the stronger, the shorter the duration of the technique. Against one person the technique lasts 3 turns. For every target double the number, the turn duration decreases by 1 meaning this technique can be cast on a maximum of 4 people at any given time.
Note: This technique can only be performed 4 times per battle with a cool down of 3 turns in between each use. S-rank usage of this technique can only be performed twice

I'll let you explain this one, its pretty useful if used right tbh.

This is the only technique within the Yamanaka's ninjutsu which is capable of causing actual damage. Unlike the other Yamanaka ninjutsu, it doesn't utilize invasion as a means of usage, but rather damages them mentally. By using chakra and targeting their mind, the Yamanaka is capable of creating severe headaches and migraines, confusing them greatly. The main effect of this isn't damage, but the fact that because it damages the mind it hinders their senses. Heightened senses are disoriented, making this a great technique to use against those of Inuzuka, possibly even Aburame heritage, and natural sensory ninja. Not sure if this would include doujutsu users, but I'm guessing it would at least somewhat impair their eyesight.

Alongside impairing their senses, this also prevents high level of chakra use from both the administrator and recipient. While in use, Yamanaka can only use up to A-Rank ninjutsu, whereas the effects vary depending on the strength of the jutsu. A-Rank use means the target can only use up to S-Ranks; vice versa for the stronger variant. Honestly though I don't see the point in using the A-Rank variant in that case, just makes it kind of worthless given the recent update. There's low chance someone I'm fighting is going to have Forbidden-rank techniques so I don't see much point in using it solely from that standpoint.

Like some of the other higher level Yamanaka ninjutsu, this can be cast on multiple targets. Against one person it lasts up to three turns, which restricts itself to lower numbers depending on how many targets there are. 2-3 targets I'm guessing would be two turns, and 4 targets would be one turn.

I think what stands out about this the most is how its applied to the target. Like other Yamanaka techniques, this is invisible to the naked eye and cannot be discerned by normal means. Someone with heightened senses like Inuzuka wouldn't be able to see this coming. I'm not quite sure how this works, whether its a "projectile" or something that just happens, but the latter would mean you can't avoid, or see this technique coming at all. You'd just experience a huge migraine with little-to-no explanation as to how or why it happened. One could guess genjutsu which is probably the most logical reason, but aside from that it would be tricky to infer what kind of technique it is based off one experience. Just "knowing" its a Yamanaka clan technique with no background would be metagaming.

It's nice to use as an opening move, just to instate a massive sense of confusion. That's gotta make this one of the more practical battle uses of the Yamanaka clan techniques.

Could pretty much be deduced through the person being a Yamanaka, abilities exist where people are able to get information (Binkan, Kisei, etc), though I understand deducing it on its own would be difficult indeed. Nonetheless, that is pretty much it. The last technique is Fuuinjutsu based, so yeah o-o. I'll see if I can come up with some answers from the questions asked throughout, so I have them for my next training session and for you to be clear on them. Lit.
