I would say nay to mind altering substances.
I support people being free to do what they want as long as they do not affect someone else.
But useing mind altering substances DOES affect others. Whether it is your family, or kids or whether it is just by the decisions you choose to make because of the mind altering.
Our worlds current state of affairs(crazy high debts etc) is largely a result of the hippy drug movement(talking about lsd etc.)
The drugs left many people unable to THINK AND REASON. Instead it just made them act on emotions more than logical thought. And then that generation failed at properly teaching the next generation. Now you just have massive amounts of people who think they know a lot, but do not even know basic things such as the first 10 ammendments, or the first THREE presidents. Things that they should easily be able to know, if they were educated well at all.
So simply here is what I think. I think non violent mind altering substances should be allowed, if the person takeing them is willing to give up some of their freedoms.. And perhaps if they can be rehabilitated, then they can regain those freedoms. (Im talking about FREEDOMS, not RIGHTS. They would all still get the RIGHTS given to them via the constitution. They would just lose freedoms/privledges to compensate for their changed judgement.)
I would support if they made a mind altering drug to HELP people such as schizophrenic or bipolar people, become more normal.(only ACTUAL serious disorders. No mind altering drugs for a "adhd kid") And these drugs would be ONLY for the people they are prescribed to.
Perhaps mild mind altering substances may be okay.
But there are plenty of people who are damaged to much from this kind of stuff.
So simply. Just free use of mind altering drugs without any tradeoffs, is what a biased person with drugs would say.
No drugs period is what a biased person who does not want drugs would say.
Both have valid reasons for both of their opinions. Useing reasoning, you can come to a conclusion, that allows the drugs, while haveing tradeoffs or restriction. Research would be done to study the full effects of what each does. Checks and balances need to happen. I know many people who have been affected by the drugs, both good and bad.
I may choose to refrain from these types of things. But others should be able to do them. With proper regulation and trade off.(I think that this should be a city county or state level decision. NOT a federal one.)
