take a close look at the surface of the rasengan.
didn't kakashi said earlier that even the 4th hokage couldnt use elemental manupulation with the rasengan ? in his case, the wind element.
and take a close look at naruto's wind elemental rasengan he used against kakuzu.
its the same surface, but minato just couldn't get that far as naruto did..
its just the wind rasengan im pretty sure of it.
