He had shown Obito's unbeatable techniques, and then had to make Naruto's father beat him. And he hadn't written about Minato yet. So basically he wrote Minato as a perfect counter to Obito!

The first ever manga page in Naruto is talking about Minato's existance... I doubt that Kishi just suddenly came up with the idea for Minato one night. Minato's involvement in the series has probably been planned since the beginning.

Then the Side Story(Kid Kakashi) came before Tobi/Obito revealed his techniques.

Rasengan was said to be the 4th Hokage's move.

S/T barrier was the only new tech we saw.

By all means in terms of versatility and overall use obito's space time beats out minato's its just how minato uses it that makes it truly deadly.

Ftg came about wayy before kakashi or obito(moonlighting as tobi) showcased their ms

Kakashi is No.1 counter to Obito's technique. Minato is No. 2 counter to Obito's technique.

But the way, Minato uses his techniques is what makes Minato a extremely dangerous shinobi.

none of his moves are too far out of the way for me to believe they just come from his character... he is married to an uzumaki and knows a bunch of sealing techniques, and uses them in a proficient way (thus ftg, reaper death seal, and all the other sealing jutsu's known and proformed)... he is the student of jiraiya so he is quick in reflexes and a master of chakra manipulation (which is the first thing jiraiya taught naruto)(and thus the creation of the rasengan and his proficient use of the ftg)...
