Naruto would not be able to handle all of the nine tails chakra as a baby. That might be why he did it.

the answer is simple, to erase the hate that kurama had. Minato already knew that naruto was going to be able to control kurama and become friends some day. He never saw kurama as danger or monster. This is why he visited bee so many times so that he could learn how bee was able to control his tailed beast demon and how he was able to become friends. In a way, minato knows even more than madara himself about the tailed demons. SO6P never created the tailed demons to destroy the world, he created them to protect it but the damn humans/shinibos utilized the tailed demons as toys/weapons/treated them with indifference/hatred. This turned them into wild beasts filled with hatred. The creator of this is hashirama. He spread the tailed demons to the other villagers as weapons... This cause wars.

all in all, minato knew that naruto was in good hands and that in order for naruto to become friends with kurama, minato needed to seal kurama's presence into naruto. It was the only way... you should know
