Naruto may have surpassed his father in specific areas, examples: adding element to Rasengan, speed, etc. But that's not necessarily the same as being able to defeat him in outright battle.

I'll give Naruto the benefit of the doubt but it'd be no walk in the park

naruto with his KM n SM is a bit too much for minato i guess...
speed n rasengan is balanced i think....
but the only drawback is that he's dumb

I think its rather unfair question, given that minato sacrificed himself for naruto, and if minato had not died, he would have been the jinchuriki himself and have been far more powerful than naruto.

Minato still wins this for me. A perfect eg was naruto fighting a fast guy like the 3rd. He had to come up with that strategy to win. I seriously doubt naruto can out smart his pops. Minato has not shown any jutsu which could defeat naruto but since he sealed the fox, he can mess up the seal or block naruto access. In this case naruto will be what minato did to his mom to give birth to him. Sage mode naruto cant keep up with minato's speed tho stronger. Summons cancels out. Speed + smarts vs strength

naruto has surpassed minato ( it would not be easy though for naruto) , and its a good thing minato would have wanted his son to surpass him.
