It was an absolute 100% bullshit asspull. I don't say that a lot, but there are some instances that have no right to be defended, and THIS is one. I'm going on a rant here. Why the **** was he relying on Naruto's SM chakra during the fight with Obito if HE HIMSELF was a perfect sage? A PERFECT SAGE for Christ's sake. Honestly I don't think anything in Naruto has gotten me mad, it's usually just "okay that doesn't make sense but **** it, I'll go along with it" but nahhh this time it's just straight up shitty writing. Where was Minato's SM when he had a village and wife to protect? Where was Minato's SM when he came to this war? Why was Minato surprised that Naruto could use SM and referred to it as "Jiraya-sensei's sage mode" instead of just "sage mode" or "my sage mode" (since it's ****ing identical, looks nothing like Jiraya's).
The whole thing with Fukusaku saying Naruto surpassed them both didn't even necessarily foreshadow that Minato had SM, it just meant that they were involved in his battles since he has a summoning contract with them and they watch him and help him fight. And shit, even if it did mean that Minato had SM, at LEAST make the shit an imperfect version instead of a version identical to Naruto's. That just gives the message that Naruto didn't surpass Minato AT ALL in that aspect.
Just awful writing. Truly awful. And I don't want anyone giving me that "write your own manga" or "drop the series if you don't like it" bullshit because I'm stating a valid opinion that I have about a specific matter, not saying the whole series is shit writing at all. As a faithful reader I have a right to critique.
