When Minato was alive every one feared him, also Raikage, and in sometime they were friends but Raikage still feared him, thats why he try to stole Hinato after Minato death.
Onoki feared him, Mizukage didnt know him but respected him, Tsunade also respected him, Gaara didnt knew him but still Minato comand him and he obey againts Juudara.
So he would be a good Supreme General. The databook says that we was a great leader and took little ninjas from konoha againts lot more and won the war almost by himself, so he wouldn't leader the shinobis from a desk, he would do it in the battle field decreaseing the number of deaths becuase he could almost solo all the zetsus. Need help with the Edo but at least it will be much easier for the alliance.
Then Kabuto, he could even sense him better than anyone and take all the Gokage to deafeat him with ease.
Then againt Madara, the Gokage would win.
