How long would it take him to learn sage mode if he tried? 5 minutes? 10 max?
But seriously, I can see why many characters said he died too young. If he was always this talented imagine if he got to or near his prime. He would have been hax beyond belief.

I think he already Mastered SM,by observing the conversation between Pa(frog sage)& boos(Naruto's summon) during pain's arc it is clear that Minato trained at Mount M,there is no reason for him to train at MM other than mastering SM,
