Minato was a hero to start with. Minato was declared Hero even before names of Sasuke /Itachi/Madara /hashirama etc were mentioned. so STFU

he was an important asset and a legend to the Hidden leaf (the Yellow flash).
- saved many comrades on the battlefield, battles were won because he was there.
- was a great/respectful student, a great leader and was loved by his people/they looked up to him.
- saved the village.
- the fact that he went as far as sacrificing himself for the sake of others makes him a hero/worth of honoring U_U.
never talk bad about the yellow flash ..................................
legends have to do something right to become legends so failing later in life doesn't change anything (specially when they sacrifice themselves trying) and Minato was one of the greatest hero's in the history of the leaf.

And Naruto....
Didnt save the village from Pain. Only beat Nagato because of Hinata and MINATO
Couldnt save Neji, Jiraiya, Kakashi, or Gaara.
Couldnt bring back sasuke
and failed many other times.
Main thing is, everyone fails at times
