Both Sasuke, Orochimaru, Juugo and Suigetsu sensed Naruto and Kurama's chakras, so I doubt he's a sensor, maybe he can sense now since he has KCM.

everyone was sensing naruto and kyuubi's chakra.. Sasuke was even irritated by it... You can see the sensor distinction between the two.. Tobirama sensed MADARA... minato didn't
